Anyone have any tips for someone transitioning from flat iron to curly?

I haven't had a perm since I was about 11 or 12 (I'm almost 21 now) but I have been getting it straightened. I've now decided to go completely natural with no heat (if I can help it) and haven't straightened my hair in about a month. I am experiencing difficulties getting all of my hair to curl, which I'm sure is because of my extensive straightening. Any tips for transitioning?

I just started also transitionindg and I did a two stand twist out. You can do it with dry or wet hair. I personally like dry better but to get better curls I used perm rods on the ends. I left them in overnight. I've tried it twice and it's turned out good. Good luck :)

You can use flexi rods or any kind of rollers to curl the ends

It takes time for your curls to come on fully. It took mine about 3 months after I stopped flat ironing.

Not sure what your hair properties are, but I did a lot of protein treatments to get the health and strength of my hair back.

The best advice is to just be patient. It might take months, it might even take a year (scary thought, I know), but man the results are SO worth it.

Just do weekly deep conditioning. Use oils like coconut for pre-poos and treatments. Do protein treatments, if you feel you need it. Try finger-detangling, rather than using combs or brushes so you can minimise breakage.

The small things really do make a world of difference!

    Good luck :)
