Opaque hair without silicones

I see that my hair has lost all its shine without using silicones. I don't think it's overcondition or overprotein. If I use too much product after my wash (as too much leave in or too much gel), my hair is easily weighted down cause it's really thin and fine.

So what am I supposed to use on my hair to bring back its shine?

Try adding aloe into your routine. I recently started making my own aloe gel and the shine and gloss are amazing! The aloe helps to seal the hair cuticle and make it smooth which creates the shine.

What products are you using and what are their ingredients?

For shine: natural oils, fatty alcohols/ cationic surfactants, hydrolysed protein, panthenol, other film formers such as flaxseed gel works for some.

Any build up will dull hair, don't overuse butters, waxes etc. You can still use water soluble silicones (prefix PEG-) and amino ones (eg amodimethicone) because these resist building up.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
    Experimenting with: benign neglect

I happen to have some at home, and I do use a spray with water, aloe and some drops of lavander in the morning to style second day hair...

How do you make aloe gel? What else could I do to add this in my routine? Here in Brazil the only type of Aloe I've found was the glycolic extract.

I'm using Deva Curl products, but I'm not using AnGel anymore cause it was really building up on my hair.

A good hair gel can give your hair a healthy shine. I've heard good things about LA Looks. Mop Top makes my hair really shiny but it does have a polyquat in it.
2C/3A, high porosity, low density, fine-medium

Low Poo: Jessicurl Gentle Cleansing Shampoo, Mop Top Gentle Shampoo
Clarify: Suave Naturals Daily Clarifying, KCCC
RO/CoWash: Mop Top Daily Conditioner, Suave Naturals Tropical Coconut
    LI: KCKT
Stylers: AG re:coil, AG Beach Bomb, Mop Top Light Hold Anti-Frizz Gel, LA Looks Xtreme Sport
PT: Curl Junkie Repair Me, IAgirl's gelatin treatment (awesome!)

    Hair LOVES proteins!

I have the CG friendly version of HE Set Me Up gel, which gives a TON of shine. Apparently it's been reformulated though, and I must've found an older bottle on the shelf last year. Don't know what I'm gonna do when I run out, I love the stuff.

I think I can relate... It must be sad when you love a product and they change the formulation! I haven't find a good one so far, though.

I'm actually waiting for my KCKT and KCCC to arrive, bought them both in iHerb 2 weeks ago and I can't wait to try them and see if I get good results!

    For aloe gel I use:
1c aloe juice (the edible kind)
    1/2 tsp xanthan gum
    1/2 tsp guar gum
    5 drops vitamin e oil
    5 drops grapefruit seed extract
    1/2 - 1 tsp honey ( more honey=more hold)
    Few drops essential oil

I made it for curl enhancing but was amazed by the shine...a pleasant side effect!
