Do you use a leave in when you straighten?

For those of you who straighten your hair, do you use a leave in still? I am thinking about going back to straightening here and there for one of my jobs. However, when I was straightening my hair before, I wasn't really taking care of it "properly". I did use silicones, but other than that I burned my hair sometimes and didn't care.

What is your routine when you straighten? What do you use? I'm clueless since it's been so long.

I only air dry straight-ish but still co-wash and still use a leave in on wet hair tho less of it and a little further away from the roots. For me that makes a massive difference in pouf and shine but bear in mind I am high porosity.

Not all wash outs work as leave ins on straight hair, some are a bit 'tangly', but many do.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
    Experimenting with: benign neglect

I definitely use a leave-in that contains oils or shea butter, I straightened last Saturday night and my LI was Beautiful Curls which moisturizes my hair pretty well.
