Turning silvers into blonde/light brown highlights?

Hello there! I'm cross posting from the Coloring section... didn't know if this section was specifically for those who stopped coloring their gray hair, or for anyone with gray(ing) hair.

I have more and more silvers coming in, mostly around the temple region but they're also a bit spread out (so no streaks) as of yet.

Was wondering what I could use to turn those silvers into blonde or light brown highlights. My hair is medium brown.

The thing is, since the silvers are spread out, I suppose I would have to dye whole sections of my hair, or maybe eventually my whole head. I know that dye is damaging, however.

Is there a rinse or something that is less damaging that regular hair dye that could give the silvers a bit of color without really affecting the rest of the hair? Thanks!

Your hairdresser could add highlights to your hair (not necessarily the whole head, perhaps just around your face). That would blend the silvers in with your natural color. But, of course, highlights are basically bleach. If you don't do a full head, it will be less damaging. I suppose you could also try a semipermanent color. The grays may or may not "take" the color. Probably your best bet is to consult with your hairdresser.

Thanks for the suggestions. I may try a peroxide-free semi permanent color. Do you have any suggestions for semi-permanent color? I don't know anything about coloring hair. I only "colored" it a few times with Natural Instincts when I was younger to get a reddish cast to my brown hair.

When I want to brighten my grays I get a product from Sally's called "Clairol's Beautiful Collection". It makes my hair shiny and colors the grays so it looks highlighted. It has no ammonia or peroxide and it gradually fades so there's no grow-out stripe.
