Roux Fanciful Rinse to Help Mask Skunk Stripe

I hope this is the right place to ask this question as I am a Newbie to the site. But I have seen several references to using Roux Fanciful Rinse to mask that awful skunk stripe. Could someone give me some details as to how exactly to do this?

I am 5 weeks into growing out my gray, mostly white hair for the third time around, once at 35, again just a few years ago and now. I am 67 and retired now and its just time I do this. There is an issue that is bothering me more and more as the days go by. My granddaughter is getting married May 24 and she and my daughter are fighting me tooth and nails to not grow my gray hair out again or at least wait until after the wedding. They say it is ageing and will look really bad at the wedding and the pictures. I know they are correct but that is too long to wait when it will take so long anyway to grow out.

I am just looking for some type of solution to help mask the probably 3" of growth about that time. I have fairly short chin level hair with shorter layers but my dyed hair is a dark medium brown.

Poo: Have to admit I have recently become a Wen convert. Love it. I have always had problems with my hair "hanging" right, curling uniformly and destorting the perimeter line. Wen makes it hang evenly.

Well, it gets a lot of good reviews on Make up Alley. Roux - Fanci Full Rinse reviews - Makeupalley

I would do a trial run to see how well it covers and how it rinses out (now before you are 3 inches in and if it would happen to stain you'd be upset). You really only need it for that occasion, so then you'd know. One other thought, think about a wig for the occasion. It might be nice to have for whatever reason anyway.

I think a fabulous hat is in order for the wedding!

My mom used the mousse from the same company. She applied it to the skunk stripe only. It covered fairly well and washes out completely as soon as the shower hits (or rain!!!!).

Oo, hat is a great idea. Yeah, in the make up alley reviews they seemed to REALLY like the mousse.

Thanks so much, enjoyed Makeup Ally reviews. I would love to have a wig for just bad hair days in general but can't afford one. I'm a retired, stay at home farm chore girl.

CurlyinParadise: I am on facebook that is devoted exclusively to going gray. Some of the women there say that the rinse and the mousse stain the hair, which would then give it a yellowish tint. I have not used these products yet for that reason. There is a product called Touchback (its like a magic marker); and another called Toppik, I believe, that is a powder - those may be good choices too. Could you wear your hair up or back? This is just my opinion, but May is a way off - and its YOUR hair and your daughter's wedding. I would say she does not get to make the decision for you, and I think if you went to a good salon, and had your make up done, no one would even notice your hair. Just my opinion.

I used Roux Fanciful rinse on my skunk stripe until is started to blend in more. I would wash, style, and dry my hair as usual then I would use a cotton ball and dab the rinse on the stripe. It worked really well and rinse right out the next time I washed my hair, never stained or dyed my hair.
