Anybody have scalp problems from co or no poo?

2 of the things I have tried, Deva Curl No Poo and Pantene CoPoo make me feel like my scalp is coated with something and it is all itchy and annoying.

If I do a co poo with actual conditioner, it is not a problem, I also can wash just my scalp area with shampoo and that is fine.

The best I have found so far is the Silk Elements line, and I have been trying lots of things. I also recently tried a shea butter masque, I like it, of course I like shea butter in general, good stuff.

I still end up having to add leave in conditioner, or spray oil or something like that, especially on my ends in the winter. I just ordered the leave in olive oil/shea butter conditioner from Silk Elements and I got their cowash. If it is like the rest of the products I have tried, I will love it.

Except for DevaCurl NoPoo, I haven't used any of the products/approaches you mentioned. I follow the method developed by Lorraine Massey, and published in Curly Girl: The Handbook (also available here). I find it well explained and illustrated, and the videos on the DVD which comes with the book are great.

One of the great suggestions in the book is for brown sugar (scalp) scrubs. You mix a tablespoon of brown sugar with three tablespoons of your co-wash conditioner, and give yourself a thorough scalp massage. If you have buildup on your scalp, this really helps to break up any scalp buildup; and I also found that it helped me to get a better sense of how well to massage my scalp when co-washing. I had to do this a couple of times early on in my CG journey, had very good results, and haven't needed to do it since then.

I've just started a trial of not using conditioner. So far, as long as I give my scalp a vigorous scrub with conditioner, I have had near to no flake problems (and I've had a very flaky scalp!)

I still have an aftercare program (which I am experimenting with at the moment). Coconut oil is an amazing product, I put a small amount through the middle/ends of my hair then apply a small amount of argan leave in conditioner. I'm hiding half the argan cream I used to now!!

This has happenned to me. I had a cradle-cap type feeling to my scalp. Cleansers that work well for me are Suave Scalp Solutions Conditioner, Suave Naturals Conditioners, & Shea Moisture Shampoo.

I can't cowash. My scalp is too oily for that. I usually use KK Come Clean sulfate free shampoo, which works well for me.

sometimes but i now use the 365 conditioners at whole foods. its their own brand. i get the orange one and it seems to help my hair but I still have to low poo every other day. Deva curl stuff has alot of perfume to it so maybe your allergic to it?
