Canopy Layer

Hi, I have type 3a curls with some 2c and 3b mixed in and I have forever had a problem with the "canopy layer" of my hair. It gets frizzy and is not very curly. :( Given, I don't have a satin pillowcase, I use a dead sea mineral shampoo/conditioner (sadly, I found a sulfate in but I still have half the bottle left), and whenever I have a "bad-dish" hair day, I french braid my hair (trying to minimize now). Is there anything I can do to help make it more curly? Any deep conditioner recipe, or some other no too expensive cream or mousse? I am open to anything!

more info on my hair...
high porosity
medium density
medium to coarse hair
shoulder blade length

Thanks in advance! :occasion9:

What products do you use to style your hair after washing? A curl enhancer can calm frizz and help the hair stay curled.

I can't suggest any products cause I have been trying conditioner only styling, but what seems to be helping me is washing my hair upside down, so that the water from the shower head does not hit the top of my head directly. Plus I make sure I apply extra conditioner on the canopy.

Thanks!:occasion9: and I usually don't use much styling cream because I've heard mixed results about it but when i do use it it's just a mousse. Thanks again! I never thought of washing hair upside down, I will have to try it!

Another thing that I forgot to mention,I do my last rinse with cold water and that helps also.

Stop using drying salts and sulphates switch to conditioner only washing. Don't let the shower beat down on your hair, always wear a hat or scarf in the sun. Use far more leave in conditioner than at present.

Coconut oil pre-poos might also help at least with frizz.
