Henna over hair dye? First time?

I had my hair dyed 10 months ago. It was my first curly girl hair cut but I guess the dye was permanent? I loved the colouring but in my opinion it has become sort of faded and dull looking. I have dark brown hair with blonde and red highlights - this is very much like my natural colour but she just "enhanced" it. I've been thinking of doing henna over this? I don't know what kind to buy or even where to start? :dontknow: I have pretty pale, cool skin so I don't want a colour that will wash me out.
Fine, 2c-3a, high porosity, high density, bleached ends.

You could do a semi permanent over the permanent to liven it up. That should not damage the hair or affect your curl pattern.

Henna is VERY permanent so do lots of strand tests on shed plughole hair to ensure you like the colour result and don't lose too much curl. Also consider trying on wigs, cool skin does not always suit warm earthy tones. Also consider what clothing suits you, if you don't look good in oranges/ rusts you may not be right for henna.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
    Experimenting with: benign neglect

To be honest, I pretty good in lots of colours, pastels aside. I look good in earthy colors but I also look good in "winter colours".

Will hennaing over my hairdye revive the high lights? Make them look stronger? Or will it colour over them?

If you do straight henna, everything will have a red tint to it. You'll still have your highlights, but they will be a copper-like red. I just did my first henna on Saturday, and the ends where my highlights still are, are very bright. It's very pretty :)
