Any Las Vegas curlies out there?

I'm going there for a few days beginning Wed. How will my hair react while out there? Should I leave in more conditioner, less, etc? Just curious how different it will be from here in NY where it's about 40 degrees now.

Thanks!!

I'm not in Vegas, let alone Nevada, but since it's an arid/desert climate, which is where I live, I'll try my best to answer until someone from that area of Nevada does.

The water there is very hard, from what I've heard, so you'll need to clarify to get rid of the water mineral buildup.

There's extremely little humidity so you'll need more moisturizing conditioner & styling products. Some curly gals have mentioned their hair goes very flat in dry air. But my hair is normally on the flat side, so when I moved from humid Arkansas to Utah I didn't see much of a difference in more or less curls. Though I did have a problem with frizz (see below).

You'll either find your hair immediately loves not having the extra moisture in the air & thus doesn't frizz, or you may find your hair immediately hates not having the extra moisture in the air & rebels with tons of frizz.

I don't know what the temps have been like or will be like in Vegas. I live approximate 5-6 hours northeast & it's to be in the upper 30s to low 50s by the end of next week. I've heard it's a bit warmer in Vegas since it's farther southwest.

Thank you for the info. My hair hates humidity, but lately my hair has been limp this winter here in NY. I'm getting my hair trimmed tomorrow, so hoping that helps!!!

Hi, the weather is supposed to be nice next week, like in the low 70's. The air here is dry, and yes, the water is hard. However, most of the nicer hotels have soft water systems, so your hair should be OK unless you're staying in a lower-end place, or at someone's house.

Hope that helps, and have fun!

I fly back and forth between Colorado and Phoenix (AZ has similiar weather to Vegas) and always pack a good conditioner for the AZ weather, summer is especially drying and I'm always careful about how much I blow dry, in fact will avoid the dryer if possible. If I'm only there for 3 or 4 days I'll skip shampoo, curls don't really need it there (at least that's been my experience). Hope that helps, enjoy your trip.

Thanks all - I'm staying at the Venetian, which I've stayed at before, but that was 7 years ago pre-CG!!!

Well shoot, Vegas is a lot warmer than where I'm at! :o That's it, I'm tired of the cold, it's time for a vacation to Vegas! 8)
