Curl Junkie Repair Me

AnsleyBirch13AnsleyBirch13 Posts: 180Registered Users
After reading up on protein treatments, I learned that it's super important to deep condition after a protein treatment. I was a little confused and overwhelmed, but then I found Curl Junkie Repair me, which is a deep treatment and a protein treatment in one. Has anybody used this? What do you think about it?

Out of all the products that I use, that is my absolutely FAVORITE!!!! I use it as a leave in as well. Does wonders for my curls, and boosts my waves in back.

How should I use it as a deep treatment?

I'm tempted to try this! Just worried how my hair would react - I never really do protein treatments, but I did that egg deep conditioning thing once and blech. My hair did not like that at all. Not sure if this means I'm protein sensitive or just egg sensitive ;)

I never did an egg treatment, so I can't compare it to that, but I vote 1000 times for CJ Repair Me! I also love SheScentIt Okra Hair Reconstructor, but I would give the edge to Repair Me for the convenience factor. I don't often have the time to do a PT plus a DT, so CJ RM comes in very handy :)

Think on my next hair splurge shop I'll pick up a bottle of this then. Do you use it often? Because if I get it I'll probably use it as my DT once per week. Is that too often for a protein treatment product?

Yeah I wanna get this too, but I just have two questions: how should I use it, and how often should I use it?

I PT/DC once a week, alternating the CJ RM with the SSI. With both products, I use Kinky Curly Come Clean to clarify first, then apply the PT, put on a heat cap & let it sit for as long as possible before rinsing out. If I'm using the SSI, I then DC for at least 30 minutes before the final rinse out.

It says on the bottle to leave it in for 5-10 minutes. You can do that once a week (or use it longer or with heat if you really need it). I don't use it as a PT, I either use it as an RO or a leave in, because my hair needs that much protein. Play with it and see what happens. It gives me the best results as a leave in or styler. I have it in my hair everyday and haven't gotten over-proteined. People worry about that so much, I just say use what works.

i would not use it as a leave in. might work for some, but not for most it is very power-packed!
it's very easy to use -- you can do it in the shower, just let it sit on your hair as you shower. can even use a plastic cap over it for deeper treatment, then just rinse before you get out of shower. it is both conditioning and protein treatment.
how often to use depends on your hair texture. my hair is medium, so i only use it once a month and never in winter. fine textures can use it a lot more often.

    3a, some 2c & 3b, medium texture, porosity normal, low elasticity :-(

found this thread when searching for "Repair Me." I've been using it as a RO lately.. today I used more than usual, and left some in. Added Satin Roots LI and my hair is the best it has been since the cold weather hit... how will I know when it is too much ?
3A/2C fine, normal porosity & elasticity, medium high density

    Current products:
    YTCucs Color Protection Low poo
    GVP Conditioning Balm
Random gels - not sure which ones I like, if any at this point!

    HG Summer Routine:
    poo - TMW Hydrate
    RO & LI - Darcy's Pumpkin Seed
Leave in Products: CHSCK & LALMG
    PT - CJ RM
    DT - EVCO

Currently trying to figure out a winter routine and transition to a less harsh "poo" for summer.

It'll be too much when your hair starts feeling dry. As long as your hair feels nice, you're fine.

Since I'm LP, I figured that it would need more time for the protein to absorb. I haven't tried it as a daily condish, but that's an intriguing idea - maybe every other day & see how my hair reacts.

I would imagine it gets rather expensive as a RO, though. I wish CJ offered a 32 oz size, like they do for the Curl Rehab, to make it cost effective. (Marsha, are you listening? :)

I used this over my leave in and coconut oil today, under my gel and I LOVE IT! Adds so much more volume and eliminates frizz! I'll definitely keep doing this
