For CGers who don't low-poo

[edited for clarity] For those who don't low poo and only do ACV rinses to clarify, how long did it take for your hair to adapt? Did you hair feel weird before it started to adapt?

What you are suggesting surely isn't the Curly Girl method anymore if you don't use a rinse out nor a styler? Did you mean some other method?

Vinegar is not a clarifier it is a chelator. Low-poo and co-washing are both in the Curly Girl Handbook.

I guess my statements do imply that I think low-poos, rinse outs and stylers are not CG. That is not my intent. I just meant that for my own personal preference, I would like to use the least amount of products as possible. If choose to only do ACV rinses and co-washes my hair would still be clean, right? Chelators remove mineral deposits and clarifiers oil and dirt?

I made this mistake the first time I went CG (or so I thought) a couple years ago. Needless to say, my hair ended up dry as a bone! However, I did rinse outs followed by ACV, but no leave ins.. and no stylers. I definitely would not recommend that. My hair didn't really have an adaptation period.. it just got dry.

You can do that but I doubt you will get satisfactory results, most of us need plenty of leave in conditioner at the very least for clumping and definition (conditioner only styling). You may be able to use the same product for cleansing and for leave in conditioning, Tresemme Naturals seems to be popular for that. You can also make your own curl cream from conditioner and commercial gel or conditioner and flaxseed gel (or buy one from Sweet Curls Elixirs on Etsy).

Remember when we remove sebum we are removing our hair's natural 'conditioning' agent, and most newcomers have some sort of damage to the hair's natural waterproofing layer (f-layer/ CMC) from shampoo, sun, brushing or suchlike. Again your conditioning steps are mimicking that.

Yes that is correct, clarifiers also remove product build up. Vinegar rinses can be drying if used frequently so ideally only do them regularly if you have very hard water. My head adapted to conditioner only washing the first week - I had a less oily scalp, clean depoufed hair. I did 'miss a bit' a couple of times but overall no major problems.

I did this for roughly a year. I did it along with the occasional bs as well. This was when I was obsessed with no poo haha. It worked fine for me. I liked it better in spray bottles though ;)
