Hey curly girls. I'm wondering if it's possible to get this hair color with henna?

I have medium/dark brown hair at the moment. :D

Another question. Have any of you dyed your medium brown hair/dark brown hair with henna and what were the results?

Thanks so much for your time.

Sam

Go to the Henna for Hair site and check out the personal mixes link. There may be one for your color there.

I use henna, but I'm already a redhead, so I can't answer your question specifically.

Yeah, you can probably find someone with a similar natural color and see what they used in their mix.

With naturally medium to dark hair, probably not much more than the henna itself. Maybe a little indigo to make it more auburn than orangey red.

Depending how dark your hair is you may need to prelighten. Some henna brands are more red some are more orange. The best thing to do is strand tests on shed plughole hair rather than using your head as a laboratory. Do understand henna is permanent, it can generally only be cut out.

you need to lighten to a medium-light brown, and then use Henna (stay away from Jamila henna, is more cherry like) infused with chamomile overnight and with added curcuma.

do a strand test first

For my part, I'd personally prefer not to lighten if it can be helped - I'd rather stick with the just the natural plant stain of the henna and/or indigo, amla, etc. When I was doing full dye release, mine was about the color you're aiming for with body art grade henna, a little indigo and a little amla, and my natural color is pretty dark.

Now, however, I only do simple henna glosses to just lightly stain and blend my grays.

The henna will go right over the top of your natural hair color. With medium or dark brown it probably won't show much, except as a red sheen in sunlight. Speaking from experience, here  The shade in the photo is probably more like what henna would look like over dark blonde hair, however henna tends to be very red so would probably be a more intense red than that. Since henna is natural (and so is hair, LOL) there's no real way to predict exactly how it will look on your hair until you try it, especially as the different hennas all have a slightly different tone to them and it makes a difference how long you leave it on :D I second the rec for the henna for hair website.
