Good Low Poos for Low Porosity?

HisreputationHisreputation Posts: 39Registered Users
Sorry if this topic has already come up! I not totally sold on whether or not my hair is low porosity, but I was curious. What low-poos are you all with low porosity hair using?
I've tried co-washing occasionally, but my scalp and hair always feel gunky a lot faster than if I low-poo. Still trying to figure the whole thing out! Thanks!
Low-Poo: Giovanni TTTT
Rinse Out: Yes To Coconuts Conditioner

I've actually been using baby shampoo! There are several brands that don't use sulfates, and the ones formulated to be tear-free have a higher pH, which means open cuticles :)
    2b/c, low porosity

    Low-Poo: Diluted L'oreal Eversleek shampoo
Co-wash: Currently Trader Joe's Nourish Spa (old formula)
Rinse-out: None! I just do gobs of leave in.
Leave-in: KMF Big Hair (HG! aaaand a discontinued formula. If anyone else knows a proteiny aloe and BMTS based conditioner I can try to replace this with after my stash runs out, let me know!)
Styling: FOTE AVG (HG!), Lush's The Big Tease gel (RIP...)

I just posted on the general discussion board about how baby shampoo has been working wonders for my hair! I figured that the higher pH must have something to do with it, cool to see other LP curlies getting good results from baby shampoo too! I use plain old J&J, but since I'm not CG I have no aversion to sulfates. It's really been helping my hair stay soft and absorb moisture.

I found a great steal on Etsy for low-poo bars by BoBeam (her name is Laquita). They're all natural and have no sulfates in them. They've gotten really good reviews: Most people have said they're not stripping at all and even make your hair soft. I don't know how they would work on us LP people, since most of the reviews have been written by people with med-high porous people. For a 3.85 oz bar, it's $5, and for a 5.82 oz bar, it's $6.50. Not bad, in my opinion. I've also heard they last a really long time.

I just bought the honey & oats one. :happy7: The ingredients seem pretty sweet: saponified vegetable oils (mainly coconut oil), glycerine kosher (of vegetable origin), honey, purified water, sorbital moisturizer (made from berries), sorbitan oleate (an emulsifier), soybean protein (a conditioner), and oatmeal. It might be a problem for people that are protein-sensitive, but I don't think it would be as big of a deal since it's a low-poo that gets completely washed out. I can't give my personal experience with them yet because they haven't arrived in the mail yet, but I'll let y'all know how they work as a low-poo.
