New and Confused about Products

I am new to the CG method and I am trying really hard but still confused about products when reading ingredients! I get how to ID cones and sulfates. If products have parabens or mineral oil are they still CG friendly? I feel like almost everything has parabens in it! I want to stay true to the method though.

Help! Thanks :)

Have you read the stickies on the newbies and general haircare boards? Mineral oil is not CG friendly. Some think parabens, like all commercial preservatives, may be a health risk but not a hair risk.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
    Experimenting with: benign neglect

Hi Sammy! I'm a nurse and let me tell you that there is wayyyyy too much hype out there about the dangers of parabens! Parabens have been used for many, many decades with no issues at all. Parabens are used to stave off bacteria growth in products that need to have a longer shelf life (more than a month or 2). A couple of studies have shown paraben residuals in cancerous breast tumors of a few women. The test results are inconclusive and not accurate because the study did not include looking at healthy breast tissue for comparison. In other words, don't buy all the hype!!!

You're right that the majority of products still have parabens in them and that's because there is no conclusive proof that they are a true danger in the miniscule amounts used in cosmetics. Just wanted to share with you because you are new and all this is confusing enough!

In regards to CG see if it works for you.

If not modify it until it does. It may take a few years to work that out. :)

There are people whose hair is fine with using mineral oil and/or silicones simply because they need such products as barriers to keep moisture in their hair but they only found out by trial and error.
