Hair Cut Option Tips for people who live out of the US

Hello everyone,
I live in Central America and I have type 3 (goes back and forth from A-B) hair. I liked the suggestion of Ouidad of the carve and slice to avoid the "dreaded pyramid look". Which Im afraid is what I'm rocking right now because people here don't have the experience to deal with curly hair.
Most salons here focus on straightening hair and even if a lot of women have curly hair, we have to suffer from the first fase of a bad haircut until it grows. So my question would be, is there a way I could explain to my hairstyler HOW TO cut my hair?
Apart from type 3 hair I have a massive mane.
thanks for the help in advance
