highlights over old lush henna?

Hi there :toothy9:

I have a question, and I hope there are some curly girls on this board who can help me :)

about 1,5 year ago I've applied henna to my hair, the Lush Caca marron. About one year ago (october 2012) I've applied the Lush caca Brun to my hair. the color is faded away, only in the last few inches from my hair you still can see some red tint, and when the sun shines you see a reddish tint on my hair.

Now I would like to go to the hairdresser to get some highlights (blond streaks) in my hair. Is it safe to apply highlights on old hennad hair, or will it turn green? I've heard that Lush henna is safe to use with chemical dyes, but since the caca brun had indigo in it?

Thanks :)
hairtype 2b/C
High density , low porosity, my hair absolutely hates some protein but once a 3 month a gelatine treatment
Leave-in: Giovanni direct leave-in, Inecto coconut conditioner
styling products: Gelebration spray, Etos styling gel strong, BHRG is my HG for hold and clumps :)
method: Scrunch'n'pump, SOTC

If you go to a reputable hairdresser they will tell straight whether they can put highlights on your hair after examining your hair.

I know indigo is suppose to wash out quicker than henna but the only real way to know if it's possible is for a hairdresser to actually examine your hair to see if it's still got a coating.

Some henna blends contain metal salts that don't react well with peroxide in box dyes/ persulphate bleach.Best thing to do is run strand tests with shed plughole hair at the same time as the patch test is done.

thanks :) altough Lush henna doesn't contain any metalic salts, I am going to wait a few more months with some highlights. My hairstylist was a bit afraid my hair would turn some bright orange color, or very yellow :jocolor::lol:
He suggested I would wait some months and then it would be more safe!
He warned me, because he thought my hair was very healthy and that it might ruin the condition of my hair :tongue3:
