Hi ladies! I big chopped one month ago and still haven't been able to figure out my texture. My pictures aren't the best but I was wondering if maybe someone can help me figure out what my hair texture is. I have some curly parts and there are a couple of patches that don't really curl up. They are just course. I'm guessing 4b/4c but just wanted someone input! Really?? I feel like I need just the perfect combination of products to get
my curls to come out. I assumed that the 3c girls have those effortless curls that are visible no matter what! I must have a wide range of textures because if you can see in the front, on both sides right above my ears, there's no true curl pattern at all.

Lol i don't know about effortless, but i could just be that your hair was dry, and now that it is hydrated your curls pop more. I would wait till it get's a bit longer to be sure though. It is possible to have different textures, and that might be your case. As time passes you will see.

yeah, your hair looks moisturized. i don't think moisturized 4c hair (no curl pattern) would show any curl when moist, and yours does.

Thank you ladies. This might help me with some of my choices in products!

You're welcome :) For whatever it's worth, I've found that hair type has helped me more with styling techniques. There are certain styles and techniques I can't do because my hair is either too curly or not curly enough, for example.

But discovering hair properties - especially porosity - and "listening" to your hair to see what ingredients it likes or dislikes (protein, glycerin, magnesium sulfate, oils, butters, etc.) should go a long way in helping you tailor your hair care regimen.

The 2a-4c is just the size of the curl.

It has nothing to do with the actual texture of the strand or the size of the strand. Now there are thready, wiry, silky, cottony, and spongy hair types. Silky hair types are generally the easiest to define since the curls are naturally more visible because of the lack of frizz.

By the look of your curls it looks like 3c, but the pictures are a little blurry.

Your true hair type would look something like 3c(size of curl)/Spongy(texture)/Coarse(size of strand)/Thick(density). Now, I'm just using this as an example. You can also have a mixture of all of these hair characteristics as well, most people do.

Good points ladies!! Makes alot of sense. Thanks for explaining the typing to me in more detail. I didn't really look at it like that.

I'm excited for the styling stage to begin. I say that now and I'm sure ill get tired of it quickly lol. Right now my TWA is still too short to do anything with other than wash n go.
