Transitioning with 2 textures and 2 lengths?

Hi everyone! I have good news and bad news. Good news: I think I've finally figured out my cg routine. Bad news: I have 2 totally different hair textures. The top layer is 100% curly (3a/b curls), and the bottom layer is like 2a hair. Also, due to a combination of the texture and haircuts that aren't cg-friendly, the top layer is significantly shorter than the bottom, so there's a disconnect between the two textures.

I've been chemically straightening my hair for the past 10 years, so I assume that's the reason for the different textures, but what's bothering me is the difference in length between the two textures. It's so drastic that I can't even braid it or do a half up/half down. Any ideas?

Oh, and if it helps, the bottom layer ends right before the middle of my back, and the top layer goes halfway down the length of the bottom layer.

it might help if you get your hair cut in layers. Since your hair is already "layered" in the most technical way. Also, bantu knot outs might help blend in the two textures and lengths. I have a very similar problem with my hair as well, and that helped a lot. also, have you tried perm rods/flexi rods? those can do wonders.

Ooh, I didn't think of Bantu knots! I'll try that tonight! Any product recommendations? Thanks!
