Long 3a Hair

in Hair Type 3
Hi, I have decently long 3a hair. It used to be way curlier before going on birth control. I've recently stopped birth control use in hopes of getting those ringlets back! In the meantime, I have issues with my crown not holding curl very well. I'm not sure if it's just too heavy or if my product isn't right. Any suggestions.
3a hair.
Length a little above my elbows.
I use Flaxseed Aloe by Aveda with a diffuser.

You can see pic on my blog - my root curl and volume suffers at longer lengths. I'm currently at shoulder length, growing out from ear length, and I'm already noticing the drag.
Hair is best when wabi-sabi.
2b/2c at this length, more 3a when shorter

Anyway I am sorry to say I had your hair... um I sorta chopped it off a few days ago. Any how you should try clipping for your root problem!! Clip your hair at the roots while its drying and that should give it the lift it needs. Gradually you may find yourself doing it less and less and you will get faster at clipping it as well. Another technique I used to use was putting my hair on the opposite side as it dried and then flipping it back over (on the right side or way I wore my part etc.). This way it would get that volume on top. I hope this helps!!
