As we head in to fall.......

How many of you change up your products for the change in weather? If so, how do you change it?

I have FINALLY found a product lineup that works in my high-dew locale. Fall is glorious weather for us here in the midatlantic US - ideal dews, mid-60 to 70 degree temps. Due to our awful dew points May-August, my product lineup is high in antihumectants. I am just wondering if I am going to be on another expensive hunt for new products.

I'm in the midatlantic too, and I don't really do any major changes in routine till the dews drop below 40. My properties don't match yours, so during summer, I can't do anti-humectants in all my products. I do use protein in most everything, and I get best results with an anti-humectant in my LI.

I never really add in humectants in my stylers regardless of dewpoint, though I thnk a couple of my rinse out products may have glycerin. Once dews drop below 40, I have to switch to a moisturizing LI and a protein free gel since proteiny stylers tend to leave me with some frizz and dryness in lower dews. I still need regular pt's, but can use more moisturizing products in the shower, in rotation with protein products.

In general, people with low dews in the winter often find they need more moisture, may need to dt more often, and may need to eliminate or drastically decrease humectants, usually in their stylers. Also, with less moisture in the air, curls will tend to be less bouncy /more droopy in general. My hair is 2c /3a, and in the winter I end up with more 2c than 3a. Good moisture /protein balance helps, but doesn't completely reverse it.

In the winter, I hear humectants can do more harm than good. They will pull moisture from your hair. So I will add tressemme naturals moisturizing co as my rinse out & keep my anti humectant cowash conditioner.

I use the same products year round. Thankfully. Maybe you'll be lucky and won't have to make changes.

Same products. I live in moderate dews for most of the year. If the dew point got really low I might use my RO as a LI since it's glycerin free, but it's not really a long enough period for me to go out and buy all new products.

I'm in the mid Atlantic states, too. When the dewpoints drop, I use the same products, but add a layer. When dewpoints are higher, I use a leave in OR curl enhancer topped off by a jelly product. When dewpoints are lower, I use a leave in AND curl enhancer topped off with a jelly product.

Of course, I rotate products. Although I wet, use a rinse out and style every day, I seldom use any one product more then once in five days, if that. I do at least one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein. If my products don't have protein, I frequently use a protein spray as first product on--then use leave in/curl enhancer/jelly.

Midwesterner here - it's supposed to be in the 90's for the next two weeks, so we aren't even CLOSE to that change yet! Lol! (Tho in a blink it can be like winter!)

What I will do is slightly less frequent protein treatments, added moisture. Low poo less often, too.

Product-wise I may cut back on glycerin a little.

    Otherwise I won't switch much!

I am really hoping that I don't have to change things up. For those of you who do, when do you know that you need to make a change?

You'll know! Your hair will "tell" you. It's all in how it looks and feels.

    Absolutely 100% correct!!

You'll know. You won't know what the exact problem is at first, but you'll be able to tell it's time for a season shift in products. Lol!

I also find that I can use the same products year round. In moderate dews, I try to keep my conditioner and styler well balanced. In low dews, I use more conditioners, and less styler. In high dews, I go light on conditioner, and heavy on stylers.
    Peace,
