LOC Method

Basically, it's a way of moisturizing and keeping the moisture in the hair. This is especially needed for dry climates, dry seasons, and highly porous curlies.:D

L-Liquid: water or leave-in conditioner
O-Oil
C-Cream (or butters)

Sounds gooey, but the result is hair that is soft, moisturized, and non-greasy hair. It also keeps the tangles to a minimum. I use it mostly in the winter, but also in the summer, if I'm working indoors for a while.

What were your results? What products did you use?
Mod CG-Naturally Highly Porous and Dry

CoWash: various
DT: various
Leave-in: 100% Mafura butter, Shima Hair Leave-in
Stylers: MoroccanOil Curl Defining Cream, various
Spritz/Sealant:not now

I LIKE THIS METHOD A LOT.

I was really surprised because it made no sense to me when I first heard of it and I ruled it out without even trying it, but one day I was like "what the hell" and tried it. I love it! I hope it works as well in the winter (I've only recently started incorporating it into my regimen). Anyways, so far I use:

    L: Shea Moisture Restorative conditioner
    O: Sweet Almond oil
C: Cantu For Naturals Moisturizing Curl Activator cream

I tend to rotate my leave ins a lot but the sweet almond oil/curl cream will most likely be my constants (unless my hair stops responding).

I prefer to reduce the porosity of my hair with coconut oil and other penetrating ingredients. I don't believe all porous hair needs more water, it takes up too much during washing as it is and water can be damaging (hygral fatigue). This system would weigh down many a wavy too.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.

I do conditioner only styling also and have been trying this method for a few weeks with jojoba oil. Not super impressed, might try the grapeseed oil.
Greencup13 do you get second day hair with this method or do you have to restyle everyday? ??

I am very interested in this message but I've been confused as to timing:
Do you start the process on soaking wet hair? Or is there a little scrunching time/air dry time in between?
Also, is it okay to add a gel after these steps? Or is one not needed?

    Thank you! :)

I feel I do a variation of this method. The water, then leave-in, and then my oil. I don't add a cream after. However, my hair has never been better.

At times, the method becomes C.L.O or L.C.O. No matter the order, the moisture lasts longer during the dry seasons, especially winter.

This method has been working wonders for me during the winter. Just curious on how this method works in higher dew points?

I currently have this method in right now and although my hair is more moisturized than usual, it feels oily and greasy. The oil also gets on my neck and jaw, which is gross. I've used Seabreeze to clean it but that only provides temporary relief.

Maybe you're using too much oil?

^ maybe. either way, it felt gross so I washed it out. My hair definitely responds to less product so this LOC method doesn't work well. I prefer if my hair didn't feel like it has product in it even if it does.

I'm planning to try this next winter in low dews because that's actually worse weather for me than high dews. Can I use any kind of cream - like Curl Junkie CCCL? How is it for looser curl types? I may try it even though the dews are pretty high now - very curious.
    2/c Coarse hair med. density.
    Highly porous. Color over grey.
I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

Any cream can be used as long as it "plays well" with the other products of the L.O.C. method.

Start with small amounts, even a dab, at first on a section of hair. From there you will begin to customize the method for your hair. Some people use their damp hair as the "L" part. Some people leave out the cream/butter and just do the L.O. I've changed up the method at times, and one time just used it as O.C.

    Here's a thread I found. Start with Rio040113.

I just recently started using the LOC method--and my dry, color-treated hair has never felt softer! Right now I use:

L - Jane Carter Solution Revitalizing Leave-in conditioner (moisturizes my fine curls without weighing them down!)

O - Carol's Daughter Tui hair oil (only two or three drops for my whole head of hair)

C - Curls Creme Brule curl cream

Winter will soon be here, or already here depending on where you live. Will you be using the L.O.C. method, and if so, how will you use it? What products will you use?

I plan on including Spiral Solutions Emollience Hair and Body Butter and tamanu oil as the "C" and "O", respectively. The "L" will be water or a leave-in conditioner, and the order will be L.C.O., L.and C., or even only the "C". Some of the products I'll be using are:

    L. -CURLS Cashmere Leave-in, Nu-gro Hair Gro Spray w/Moisturizers, and water

    O. -Tamanu, Mixed Chicks Replenishing Oil, OH Sugar and Berries Pomade, Miss Jessie's Baby Buttermilk, LUSH R&B, and various

    C. -Qhemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream, Sebastian Potion 9, Mop Top Leave-in (new formula), Curlisto Repair Styling Cream, It's A 10! Leave-in (original and keratin), and various

My hair is low porosity, but I just tried both the LOC and LCO methods and I am liking the results so far. I found more luck using the LCO. I also tried adding gel afterwards. Here is what I have used.....

L- Curl Junkie Beauticurls leave-in, and Curl Junkie Smoothing Lotion

    O- Darshana Indian hair oil

    C- Curl Junkie CCCL

G- Curl Junkie Curls In A Bottle (planning on trying a lightweight mousse too....I Think the one I have is called Fruit Infusion lightweight mousse y Shea Moisture).

I have to use a small amount of gel or mousse or my hair feels very stiff and it gets buildup.

Actually, out of desperation, because my hair was drying out so quickly, I re-introduced sealing back to my hair. I didn't use a leave in conditioner, but I sealed with some sweet almond oil and then used devacurl Supercream. Then I plopped for about five minutes and scrunched/raked/smoothed some gel on after that, then diffused. I'm getting pretty good results and my curls look a bit tighter actually.
