CG and deep conditioning?

LochinaLochina Posts: 22Registered Users
Hi, I'm considering going CG but have a question about deep conditioning--when you CG's deep condition with something heavy and oily. say, coconut oil, do you "wash" it out with a co-wash after? Is that sufficient to remove excess oil? TIA!

I deep condition with Eden body works jojoba deep condition. I deep condition after I low poo or clarify. Sometimes after I co-wash. I don't wash after my deep condition. I just rinse out the deep condition with cool water in order to reduce frizz. For added penetration, I sit under a hooded dryer set on the 'natural' (low) setting for 15-30 minutes.

Yes you can conditioner only wash out coconut oil, many people think it works better than washing oil out with shampoo.

It does make a kind of sense, cationic surfactants and fatty alcohols are excellent emulsifiers, that is one of the roles they play in some conditioners - mixing the oils with the water.

Anionic surfactants are highly effective degreasers with fairly hot water, think how you do the oven dishes after roasting a fatty meat. Obviously we don't want to soak our heads in almost boiling water!
