Hey Im fairly new to going natural and I have been growing my hair for about 3-3 1/2 months Its still kind of short which is probably the reason why I cant tell but I was wondering if anyone could give me like an opinion I think its 3c/4a?also my hair is not really curling on the top I'm not sure if its do to what I'm using or if its because its a looser curl pattern.

You've got coils so I would say you are a 4a. Constant manipulation and use of protein can loosen your hair pattern. However, most naturals have different hair textures on different parts of their heads. I recommend caring for each pattern separately. Meaning, for example, if the back is tighter than it may need gentler handling and more moisturizing than the front. Good luck with your hair journey.

I don't know the ingredients for those products off the top of my head but anything that is advertised as strengthening most likely has protein in it. Yes protein can loosen hair pattern temporarily but your curl will come back after a few washings.

It looks like 3c hair with some 4a thrown in, my hair is 4a (I have curls just like yours but smaller about the size of a crochet needle, but my hair is just like yours in the back the size of a pencil or 3c. You will find that the 4a will have more of a "fuzzy" curl then your 3c parts and it might require either more/or different product to get the look you want. But hey just look at it as uniqueness :-)
Low Porosity 3c/4a hair, natural for the second time since Feb 2011. Shea Butter (of any kind) is not my friend :cwm10: :laughing9:

Your hair also looks like mine, but mine maybe a little longer. Hair twins!!!! 👏 But yes I have to treat my textures differently. But my stylers are the same for both textures.

Seronda my type 4 coils are smaller than a crochet needle as well. They're about the size of a size 'f' crochet needle. My 3c curls are about the size of my pinky finger.
