Stylists rating themselves...

I was looking for salon reviews and all I can seem to find are raves from members who have signed up for nc.com only to post one shining review on the day they signed up, and never come on again or post anywhere in the forum. Ahem..I think we know what's up with that. Likewise with members who sign up and post a terrible review and we never hear from them again...clearly, trying to put down the competition. We all know how competitive this business can be. So I guess this is my call out to all the established, active members of this forum..if you get a great haircut, please, please, please let everyone know!!

I agree w/your advice, but just to take it a step further: it's great to post all sorts of reviews, not just positive ones. I also think it's a great idea to post a review in multiple venues. Yelp is a terrific place to post reviews too.

i agree with the importance of posting both positive and negative reviews. i also have had the experience of pm'ing posters and no answer, happened in about 5 cases, very frustrating.

Yes, it's annoying to see shill accounts posting salon reviews. I saw one salon that had all of its reviews posted by new accounts with no other posts. All 5-star reviews, with similar wording, posted within a 3-month period. One reviewer even posted 2 slightly different reviews for this salon on the same day!

I've also seen representatives (user id = salon name) rating their own salon  Those posts should be moderated so that at least the most blatant false reviews get removed.

I just saw this thread and it caught my eye because just yesterday, I happened to be looking at my own profile and noticed my "most recent review", a glowing review of a salon in North Carolina. Which is all well and good but I'm in Ohio. I could not see any way to delete or report it- anyone know? I guess I was hacked somehow.

That's horrible! I think something similar happened to me. I posted a negative and honest review about a salon I went to a week ago. I just happened to revisit the page to look at reviews about other stylists from the same salon and my review had been edited and modified! It doesn't even say I wrote it anymore! It says my modified review was posted by someone else!

chalakse <---That's not me! And they cut some of the stuff I said out! I don't really trust this site to give honest reviews anymore.

I just created an account to write a review after lurking for a long time and noticing that my favorite stylist/salon wasn't listed :( I'm not a stylist, I swear! I'm just very loyal!
