Ugh. Frusterating Hair.

I am going crazy with trying new products in an attempt to fix up my unbelievably frusterating hair. I absolutely HATE the fact that my hair is so enormous it looks like it is taking over my head! I have... probably 3B curls with the most crazy volume you've ever seen. I hate it sooo very much, and I can't figure out how to control it. It looks wierd when its wet, very pretty when its drying, and then enormous and ugly when it is dry. I desperately need a product or two that will help me control my hair throughout the day. :(

It sounds exactly like mine, specially your description of the drying process. My whole life ive been saying, its looks lovely when wet, but it wont DRY like this....

Before CG, I used the sunsilk cream for frizzy hair, which gave the best control for volume, but it has cones, so Im now on the lookout for a new product, so im in the same boat as you, really.

If I stumble across something great, I'll post it :D

    You're not alone.

That doesn't help with your hair issues, I know, but isn't it nice to know that you're not the only person in the world who feels that way?

Most of my pics in my fotki are at the very lovely drying phase.

I'm in the process of trying to find products that help my hair I'll let you know if I find anything good....

Here's what seems to help me so far:

Using honey mixed in with my conditioner and with my gel. I put about a pea size in each. This sounds really weird, but it seems to make a difference.

After I get done with my shower, I flip my head upside down and apply a leave-in conditioner followed by a strong-hold gel to my soaking wet hair.

Then, wrapping my hair up in a t-shirt/ plopping helps my hair to curl up more so it looks less "poofy" and more curly.

The best way to keep your hair looking nice is to let it air dry and do not touch it while it is drying.

After my hair dries, if it's looking a little poofy I'll put some product in my hand and smooth it over my hair kind of like I'm putting it up in a pony tail.

I'm still having problems getting my hair to behave, but this is what has been helping so far. My hair has been looking pretty good in the morning, but it hasn't been lasting through the day. So you'll have to let me know if you come up with any way to fix this

Just remember, you are probably your worst critic. Your hair probably looks better than you think it does. Don't forget that there are other curlies out there who feel your pain!

I recommend CK. It's a serum (no cones and it's water soluble) that controls volume and frizz, It should definitely help. It also defines curls nicely. I use it under my gel because it does not provide hold. HTH!

My hair is like that. What has been the biggest help for me is my deva cut and also the CG way. The way my hair was cut was specifically to help with the volume. I did NOT get it thinned, but she just kinda layered it so that when it's dry it's less poofy than before.

I think that part of my volume was due to damage. Right now, I use a leave-in (OneC, but I'm trying to find a cheaper one) and then Jessicurl CCSC and RR with some Angell on top. I am experimenting with the amount of product that I use and have found that the right amount helps to control volume a lot, but that is also because I have a good cut.

There are days when my hair is more poofy. but typically that's at the end of the day and I can really say that my volume is a lot less than it was. There is hope! You just have to find what works for you!
3B with some 3a. Fell off but am now back on the CG bandwagon and looking for my HG products.

I have been using Set Me Up Mousse by Herbal Essense and that stuff rocks! Nice hold but not super stiff and I don't get crazy volume from it like I have with some other products. Do you airdry or diffuse? I can't airdry. It always ends up looking like crap so I diffuse. The trick for me is to just hold the dryer over my head without actually touching it. The more I touch it the bigger it will get but by just holding it over my head it drys my hair so that it looks very similar to what it looks like when it is wet without having the wet look.

So, yesterday I CO washed my hair, left in some condish, used BRHG, and something else that I dont remember what it was.. (woops!), then I blow dried around my hair, and it did look better than usual later, but it still got a little bigger than I would have hoped. Any suggestions on products to get that I can get at CVS or maybe ULTA?
