This thing. Is AMAZING!!!

Guys!!

So my hair is like really long (hip length) en very dense. It takes AGES to dry. On top of that, my hair hates diffusing... :( I tried everything, pixie diffusing method, higher heat diffusing (which is bad I know). But to my surprise diffusing just makes my hair limp and undefined!

Plopping didn't work very well either (well sometimes it would, I get very inconsistent results with plopping).

So I was still struggling with my drying time, and then I magically stumbled upon this:

51JpvTsXabL.jpg

Bold as I was I decided to order it and try it out for hair drying. It's meant for when you have rollers or smth in your hair, but I thought whatever, should work anyways if it doesn't fall off my head. It seemed good to try, as it doesn't really flatten your hair like plopping does, and your hair is constantly and consistently being dried, not one section at a time like with diffusing. Plus, it seemed convenient to use (hands free).

So it arrived and I tried it, and BOY it was the best technique I had EVER!! tried!! My curls were 100% frizz free (no lie!), very well defined, clumpy, tight, and so VOLUMINOUS! o.o This will be my number one HG and I will not go a washing session without it!

And like I mentioned before it's super convenient. You put it on, put your hair dryer somewhere near to you... and you can just chill on the couch or use your computer or something while it's doing its job.

I can recommend this thing to everyone :D the first time it's a hassle to put it on your head properly but it gets easy and it's a thousand times worth it.

(My hip length and highly dense hair needs a bit more than an hour in it on my blow dryer's lowest heat setting)

It looks like something out of Alien!

How did it do with clumpage? Did it break up the clumps?

@Wavydaze: ah it's great that you found it on other places! :) Now people from other continents can but it as well :) I think the shipping costs from Mariposa are really high if you're not from Europe.

Oh and winkelwagen means shopping cart ^^ bestellen means to order ;)

@Julesonline: I don't know, it kind of lays down in the back bottom I think. Near the ''tube''. I can't give you a good answer 'cause I can't really see it for myself when my hair is in that thing :P

Shopping cart like a little wagon!!!! A winkle wagon! Awwwwwwwwww!!! That's so cute!

Sorry I'm an Anglo-phone (clearly) and I think words in Germanic languages often sound like adorable permutations of English words. I'm sure the Dutch must think that way of English too!

Okay, on to serious business. Have you tried other soft hood bonnets? I'm wondering how this one would compare to this one: Conair Professional - Conair Pro Soft Bonnet Attachment (also found at Sally's for us in the States but much cheaper than the one you have).

I have one and its great. Use it to add heat to DT's or for drying. I lean over and put all my hair in it, turn it on then flip right side up. It inflates so all your hair stays in. If you put your dryer on too high it might fly off your head ( happened to me lol) but I love it if I want to be dry and am short of time for diffusing or air drying.

That was what I was wondering...how to get all your hair into it with out it flattening out and sticking to your head. So, you are almost like plopping with heat with this bonnet dryer? If so, I really like the sound of that! :smilebox:

I think I might pick this up over the weekend from sallys. What kind of hairdryer do you have?? I think if I used mine for an hour, it would probably explode. And by the end of the hour.. my low heat setting feels like the high setting. Ugh

So you put your hair in soaking wet??? Or do you do a quick plop so it's not dripping wet??

    I have a soft bonnet from Sally's , it's metallic gold.

Anyway, I love the concept BUT...I have to rotate it around my head constantly b/c the spot where the air comes into the bonnet always dries really fast and gets hot.

The rotating the hat and concentrated drying ended up giving me wonky hair so stopped using it.

Is this design flaw with this particular one I have, or is this common?

ooh i want it. I was thinking I should find a helmet type dryer like the salons have but this would be portable! Plus it would be so much easier to dry my hair, play Words with Friends, and eat breakfast all at the same time. I do it now but it isn't going so hot.

The hair dryer I have is the Carmen volume 1600. I'm really happy with it and I can use it for over an hour without any problem. But I bought it in The Netherlands, so I don't know if this is useful information for you...

And yes, I put my hair in soaking wet. I do not plop before! I put it on right after I've applied gel to my hair.

Oh and btw, I don't know how long and thick your hair is, but if you have like BSL/APL and medium density, probably half an hour in that thing is enough for you. I need an hour but my hair reaches to my hips and is highly dense.

I personally don't have this problem at all with this softhood, Chloe! When I take it off my hair is equally dried at every section.

This softhood from Hairflair has a lot of ''holes'', for proper division of the heat and blowing. It works great!

Oh, I really want this thing! I just have to decide if it will be worth the humiliation I'm gonna get from hubby and sons. One question--how many ventilation holes are there?

Ffft... at the beginning of the tube, about 16 holes. Then none for the rest of the tube (otherwise not enough air would get to the hood), and I'm going to guestimate that the hood itself has at least over 80 ventilation holes.

And wow good idea girls I will defnitely start using this thing in the car once I can lol
