Best leave in conditioner?

Ok, so from what I've gathered, (new to CG) you need 3 different conditioners if you want to go no poo. One that conditions, one that cleanses, and one you leave in. All free of cones and all that other bad stuff. Right now I am using a vegan conditioner called Nature's Gate and I'm guessing I need two more. I think I'm going to go with V05 for a clarifying one, but what are some good leave ins?

People have been quick to respond with their favorite leave-in.... but just because that leave-in works for them DOES NOT mean it's going to work for you.
Have you figured out your hair properties? What are the dew points like in your city?
Some use the same conditioner, or 2 conditioners, or 3.... depending on their individual needs.

Hi. I need a quick reply. I have 3A hair. Today I went totally off my routine and my hair was a huge ugly frizzy flat mess. My question is, when you use Trader Joe's Tea Tree Tingle Conditioner, do you also use it as a leave in? Then do you still use gel? The reason I ask, is my husband could drive me to Trader Joe's tonite, and I could pick it up and try it. Thanks so much....
On the TJ's TTT, I've never tried it as a leave in. If you have a sensitive scalp, I think it would be best rinsed out.
ETA: Conditioners don't clarify. I don't know why they put "clarifying" on the label, except maybe it's to indicate that it's supposed to go with the clarifying shampoo.

Thanks rmc2! I don't know how to multi-quote, so I will have to quote things one at a time. :confused1: I do have a sensitive scalp, so I'm really glad you mentioned that. I didn't get to Trader Joe's last night anyway, so now I can think about it. Thank you for replying so quickly!
Hi CurlyInTheFog, thanks for your quick reply also. As I said, I don't know how to multi-quote. I think I might like to pick up the TJTTT, because sometimes I feel like my hair needs a switch for washing. My hair is on the dry side...do you find it to be a strong shampoo? Also, I am prone to seborheic dermatitis (well, can't find spellcheck either...). Do you think the tea trea oil would help with that if I used it every so often? If you don't know, that's okay too.

Your entire routine is relevant, aim to use super gentle products at pH 4.5 to 5.5 to respect the skin barrier/ protective acid mantle/ beneficial flora. You probably already know to cleanse regularly. Options for sulphate free shampoos include
Best Hair Loss Treatments | Hair Growth Treatment | Treatment For Hair Growth (contains ketoconazole, same as in Nizoral)
Products - Komaza Care (pH 4.5 gentle scalp friendly ingredients)
Neutrogena T/Sal Therapeutic Shampoo Ulta.com - Cosmetics, Fragrance, Salon and Beauty Gifts (salicylic acid, harsher so perhaps better for more severe SD)
Also review your diet, aim for as anti inflammatory nutrient dense as possible - over time that can make a huge difference alongside a gentle routine by altering the amount and composition of your sebum, strengthening the skin barrier, reducing systemic inflammation.

Firefox7275, There's alot of info you gave me. I think I have a book on anti inflammatory nutrient dense foods...and I do notice that stress is a huge facor in the seborrhoeic dermatitis (that's probably the US spelling also....). I had to use the Neutrogena T/Sal and Nizoral stuff a few years ago, but it hasn't been that bad since then. I didn't know about olefin sulfonate being irritating/stripping, so I need to check my ingredients on a few things. I will also look into the Komaza Care. Thanks for all you input. :thumright:
For leave ins, KCKT was waay too light and I got some frizzies when applying. Satin Roots leave in is much better in my opinion. Its actually light, but at the same time provides enough moisture for my med-thick hair.
If you have Low-Med porosity and medium thick hair, look into these products. (For comparison: have 2B hair and can use mild protein treatments once every few months, its hard to over moisturize my hair.)

You are welcome: stress is indeed a huge issue in various forms of dermatitis. Stress is pro inflammatory, affects sleep quality, increases our need for all sorts of nutrients, and often dulls the appetite or causes cravings for sugary rubbish. It's a disastrous combination.
Best self care for stress: get your 10,000 steps each and every day, more intense formal exercise three to four times a week if you are able, pretty much the same as an anti inflammatory diet especially the oily fish, also magnesium rich foods for example chia, ground flax, pumpkin seeds, and yummy cocoa powder! I do this for a living and am prone to stress/ anxiety so let me know if I can help further on that in the future.

The original book only says that the CO should contain 1) a mild surfactant (i.e., quaternary ammonium salts such as cetrimonium chloride), this is important as contrary to popular belief not all COs contain a surfactant and some may be better than others. 2) protein (but some prefer to avoid this), 3) emollients, and 4) humectants. So if the CO qualifies in all points it should be enough.
What may have initiated the trend towards several COs is the fact that many years ago a lot of people began with a pricey CO and in order to save money added a cheap one for co-washing, so a lot of newbies probably thought that was the way to do it. I myself used two to stretch my organic RO and eventually I didn't rinse it out at all so I would not waste it (and it did wonders for my hair that way!). Many people with healthy fine hair don't even need a LI, or like me most of the time, have enough with not completely rinsing out their RO.
So, if you have a quality and complete CO see first how you do with that one alone, the whole point of CG is to simplify one's hair care routine and narrow down the products to 2 if possible (a CO & a gel). However, those that manufacture curly hair products will encourage people to use more... and some PJs end up collecting a gazillion bottles and jars in their unrealistic hope that a "miracle" formula is going to even change their hair type...
