Recs for a gel for low porosity hair in high dewpoint area?

I live in the south and the humid is killer right now with dewpoints around 70 to 80. I'm in the process of pulling every glycerin product from my rotation to see if that helps, but that honestly doesn't leave me with much.

Looking at Pattern Pusha from Curl Junkie or perhaps CIAB, but I'd love to know of other gels...perhaps cheaper gels since I'm a long haired curly to keep this weather at bay.

Thanks!

The best way to select ingredients/products is by hair properties. Here's a link to help you with yours Curly Hair Basics | Live Curly Live Free

My hair is fine/low porosity. Prefers the more natural products without the chemicals, especially polyquats. I find that protein really helps when the dewpoints get higher. Most of the year, I do one PT a week and use a lot of products with protein. In the summer, I usually do 2 PTs a week. I also use minute amounts of really rich products (my low porosity hair doesn't care for straight oil/butter) to "seal" my hair--and top with a jelly product.

Interesting...I know my hair doesn't like protein very much, but I am low porous. I always heard it constricts the cuticle even further, which can dry out the hair. Maybe I need to give protein another try, though. Perhaps my hair has changed after pregnancy. Thanks again!

It's interesting. The only place I've read about low porosity hair not liking protein is on nc.com, which is why I never give out that link. My hair is fine and low porosity and never met a protein it didn't like.

I actually discovered my hair hated protein long before I went CG or knew I was low porosity. Someone explained to me that just because my hair was dry didn't mean it was damaged and the reason I was getting bad results was because I was using products for damaged hair. Dry and damaged hair is a common product group. I started reading ingredients and noticed proteins were consistently in there in large amounts.

Kathymack... it makes sense what you're saying about porosity. I always thought I was high porosity because my hair liked protein. (I can't really tell by the slip and slide test, sometimes I think I feel bumps but they may just be kinks in my hair. My hair floated in the water test but I know that test can be unreliable.) Anyway, now I'm thinking it's actually low or normal... it seems to fit better with the other descriptions.

I love using both KCCC and SM Soufflé together. My hair lasts up to 4-6 days and barely any frizz.
