What happens if you're solving the gel-cast when hair isn't completely dry?

amy215amy215 Posts: 16Registered Users
I heard it could make curly hair puffy... But I don't believe this and on my hair I didn't see a difference... What have you noticed when you solved the gel-cast too early? were your curls like always?

I've always had frizz and what I call 'poof' until my hair is 100% dry. I currently wash at night, diffuse to crunchy and mostly dry and then go to sleep, so I guess technically I am scrunching/manipulating it some before its totally dry. Most days I get low to minimal frizz, usually my hair is still 75% crunchy the next morning though.

When I use BRHG on top of my products, it takes my hair forever to dry up to a point I can´t say for sure whether my hair is really dry underneath the gelcast. When I found myhair to be still damp after SOTC I put on a plop for 5-10 minutes and that prevented my hair from losing definition completely.

When I touch my hair when it´s not completely dry it´s always bad news. It gets frizzy, defineless and looks weight down very quickly (pobably because of it´s length,my hair is midback now).

I never wait until it's completely dry. I usually get to nearly dry, but it's already been 4 hours and would be another hour if I waited.

I am too impatient and usually SOTC before it is dry, my roots and underlayer would take ALL DAY to dry if I was to wait. I have found those parts dry faster if I SOTC when a little damp. There is a little frizz but I am learning to accept that curly hair will always have some frizz. I usually do another mini SOTC about an hour after the first to get the last of the crunchy out of my roots and underlayer.

For some reason, when I am on this site, which I love, every time an appletad starts up, my machine freezes and I am forced to re-boot, only to have it freeze up again when another Applet Ad starts. What can I do?

By the way, I contacted tech support for my internet provider; we loaded the latest version of netscape and everything is running fine. I think it's a programming error on one of the Applet Active Ads.

Sometimes it works out like this for me too. My hair can take a very long time to be completely dry. However, if I really want it to look its best I wait.

I always SOTC when it's about 80-90 % dry... just because I'm at work and it's totally embarrassing to have matted down producthead when you're out in the open so everybody can see (not that they even care). Sometimes it leaves me with a little frizz, but I'm ok with that, because I fluff my hair for volume anyway. If I waited, I'd be SOTC'ing right before I left work after an 8hr shift (ok.. slight exaggeration).

If I SOTC before at least 80-90% dry, I would be a brillo pad! I too would prefer to wait until I am 100% dry but I would be like Sixelamy and it would be bed time!

So I am extremely careful when I do SOTC partially dry. One extra squeeze and I am a brillo pad!

Sometimes I accidentally scrunch too early and then I'm like 'eehh, might as well just scrunch it all out'. It's mostly the back that's still a bit damp when I do that though, so I can't comment on whether it looks that different because it's at the back :P

I do think it's a little frizzier from what I can see in the mirror. Not significantly though.

Recently I have been having problems getting gel casts. Am I not using enough product? What might cause that?

Mine is always a little damp still, even after diffusing it. The back seems to stay wetter longer - don't know why. Anyway, I almost always scrunch it before it's completely dry. Today, I cranked the heat up in the car til it was mostly dry and SOTC in the car while at a red light. Pretty sure the guy in the orange mustang next to me was not impressed with the crazy lady in the mini-van. Sometimes it will get fuzzy/frizzy, particularly in the back which takes longer to dry. Today it was fabulous though.

If you're using the same gel that usually gives you a hard cast, then you might overconditioned your hair or experiencing build-up.
