Silicones and stylist rant and question!

I went CG about 6 months ago not only based on the advice of a lot of curlies here, but my stylist. As she cut my hair on Thursday, she said how much healthier my scalp looks. I told her I'm pretty sure it's from cutting out sulfates. She said she was so happy to hear that I had gone CG....and then coated my hair in a silicone-based curl cream. Argh! Is my only option to use a sulfate now? It took 2 weeks to recover last time I used a sulfate shampoo.:(

Any low-poo with coco betaine will remove silicones. Sulfates not necessary.

Try apple cider vinegar or baking soda to get rid of it

I didn't know coco betaine removed silicones. I'll try my sulfate free shampoo that has it! If that doesn't work, what is an apple cider vinegar or baking soda rinse?

    Thanks to you both!!!

Baking soda is alkaline so damaging to both skin and hair, I hate sulphates but I'd rather even use them than baking soda.

If it doesn't work the first time, just try a second time and let it sit for a minute or so. The only thing that I have had difficulty getting out with coco betain is waterproof sunscreen, and that def needs a sulfate.

The link was more for the OP lol.

I don't have any additional info... I would love to get a Round 2 of the curl chemist's post on additional silicones and surfactants!

woops :p wel, let's say it's almost 2a.m. and I'm having exams, does that count as an excuse?
It is a good link though, but doesn't it almost say what was said in the 2nd post here?
