Thinking about 'no poo'

gymnastjessgymnastjess Posts: 16Registered Users Curl Novice
Hey guys, I'm new here on naturally curly.com
I've been thinking about trying no poo again. I tried it along time ago and it made my hair extremely tangled. I'm also about getting my hair cut to my chin in one week, because my split ends are massive. I have 2a/2b wavy hair...or did. I wash my hair once or twice a week and use a moroccan argon oil after the shower. Should I still try no poo with short hair?

Not if you're going to continue using the Moroccan Oil--it's full of 'cones!

Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Cyclomethicone, Butylphenyl, MethylPropional, Argania Spinoza Kernal Oil (Aragan Oil), Linseed (Linum Usitatissimum) Extract, Fragrance Supplement, D&C Yellow-11, D&C Red-17, Coumarin, Benzyl Benzoate, Alpha-Isomethyl Ionone
3a (Corkicelli), highlighted, fine, low porosity
    SE PA

HGs: Anything Sevi; Curly Kinks Satin Roots, Curlycue ReNew and Coil Jam; homemade FSG and okra gel; soap bars; UFD Curly Magic; Botanical Spirits Jellies, CJ Repair Me, Aloe Fix

I have fairly short hair (I try and keep it above my shoulders and occasionally will go for a super short cut), and I use a co-wash method with no shampoo.

The way I maintain my hair is with 3 conditioners (2 rinse outs and leave in), an apple cider vinegar rinse once or twice a week, and occasionally I'll use gel (Deva Curl Arc AnGel, if I can't risk a bad hair day)

Now for your situation, it really depends on the type of conditioners you're using (AVOID CONES! All hair types suffer under cones. There are affordable silicone free conditioners our there, you just have to look) and how you use them. If you detangle your hair with your fingers or a wide comb in the shower, after applying conditioner, you should be able to avoid knots.

I don't have any tangles when I detangle my her with conditioner 1st with my fingers next with a wide tooth comb. If I have knots (which is rare), I use a denman brush.
