How to fix a dry scalp?

It seems like no matter how much I deep condition and oil my hair, my scalp is always dry! For example, if I put Olive Oil on my scalp one night, the next day my hair will be very oily, but the scalp will be dry and flaky! I was wondering if anyone knew any products (shampoos, conditioners, treatments, etc.) that I could use that would effectively work in keeping my scalp moisturized? I summarize how i maintain my hair in the next couple paragraphs.

I've done tons of research on this and tried so many different oils, shampoos and conditioners, idk what to do with my scalp! I used to wash it much less frequently like once a month but it was always dirty and very itchy. I wrap my hair every night and use a wide tooth comb to comb it.
I use olive oil on my scalp 2 to 3 times a week and co wash twice a week with Ren conditioner (knockoff of Wen). I deep condition my hair with Design Essentials Conditioner and do a protein treatment once a week on the same day. Also, I wear my hair up pretty much every day (twisted in the front and in a bun at the back).

I just started transitioning in January of this year, and I noticed that my hair is very wavy in the front yet has extremely tight, coily curls in the back. It's like a combination of 3C and 4a. Also, I am mixed with Native American, Japanese, and African American (if that helps?).

I wonder if maybe there is an underlying cause to your dry scalp. What is your diet and water intake like? Also the weather may have some effect on your hair/scalp as well.

I workout daily, live in sunny Cali and suffered from dry scalp. I ended up using a sulfate free shampoo either Kinky curly come clean or a mud wash. I only use hot oil treatments on my scalp once a week when I DC. I increased my water intake significantly and started taking a multi-vitamin daily. The Dry scalp ended quickly.

Have you tried coconut oil instead of olive? It has worked wonders for my hair and scalp. I rub it into my scalp like a co wash then through the lengths. Wrap it up under a t shirt overnight and it is almost completely absorbed by morning. Not greasy at all, for me olive was moisturizing but didn't seem to actually penetrate the hair or absorb into my skin. Great for dry skin too.

I drink about 5 bottles of water a day, so I think I'm good on that. However, I think I'm going to try the sulfate-free shampoo, because I usually don't use shampoo since I co wash, but when I do, I looked up the ingredients in the shampoos I use and most had ingredients that would damage my hair. Thanks!! :)

And I have not tried coconut oil yet but I have heard so much about it and never thought about it that way! I will get some and try using that instead of olive oil and see how it turns out Thank you! :)

Try the apple cider vinegar rinse. I have a dry itchy scalp n it really works. Put 2 cups water with 1/2 cup acv or any kind of vinegar. Massage on your scalp n put some on the rest on your hair cover with a plastic cap for about 30 mins then rinse with cool water. Then deep condition after.
