50 and want more of a style...

tigerllotigerllo Posts: 1Registered Users
I am new to this forum. I just moved to S Florida so, for the first time in my life, I have committed to wearing my hair curly. However, right now it is long with a few layers but looks all one length. I am 50 years old and I just feel like this is not the best look for me. I would like more of a "style" but still medium to long. I was thinking maybe more volume at the temples and then narrower at the bottom, but I cant find any pics of what I want. Any ideas?

Hi Tigerllo, it really depends on your face shape. Is it oval, square, long, heart, diamond, oblong? Have I totally confused you?:banghead:

Check out on the web the best hairstyles for your face shape. There are pictures and ways to figure out your face shape. Of course you don't have to go with what is suggested but it might be helpful to read up.

For example, my face is longish and on the narrow side so I need volume and good layering at the sides. A good stylist will take your face shape (and to lesser extent overall body shape) into consideration.

If you have some idea of what your face shape is, post back and maybe we can assist more.

It is a good question! I hope you get some good responses.

I love all the Curl Junkie products. Still experimenting with gels and curl creams. Still hoping for 2nd day hair....

try a "curly bob" -- slghtly longer on the ends in the front but basically your typical bob -- no longer than above the shoulders. Get a good cut so you don't have too much hair on the sides either.

I've worn my hair in an inverted bob for the last five years. First time in my curly life (35+ years), that I've felt that I have a style.

Here's a thread with lots of pictures http://www.naturallycurly.com/curltalk/general-discussion-about-curly-hair/70484-curly-bobs-unite-whats-like-about.html

This is a before and after pic from somewhere here on NC. I kept it because the after pic is something I want to get someday when I decide not to have long mostly one length hair anymore. I adore this haircut. It seems similar to what you are describing
