Can you plop *and* diffuse?

ECurlyECurly Posts: 13Registered Users
I just heard about plopping, and I've just gotten a diffuser. The diffuser made my hair very frizzy. I read that you should hold it up to the head *then* turn on the heat, and turn it of again before you move it.

Can you plop and diffuse? like plop first and then diffuse?

I'm so confuse with all this stuff.

Yes I think that is very typical. Plopping to "set" the curls and draw out any excess moisture and then diffusing the set curls.

I always plop then diffuse. I don't use the turn on, turn off method, but I do diffuse my hair almost 100% upside down (bending over). I cup my hair, bring it up to my scalp for 10 seconds, then move to the next section. I use medium, not hot- the high temp seems to dry it too fast and causes frizz.

I also plop (about 15 minutes while I brush teeth, apply face creams, and get dressed), and then diffuse. I also use the method you described of turning off the dryer in between sections (known around here as the Pixie Diffusing Method), as it cuts way down on frizz for me.

What settings are you using on your diffuser? The frizz may be caused by you having the dryer Ary too high, yet using the lowest speed with a low or medium heat, and don't touch your hair at all until it is totally dry. Plopping before diffusing I think helps the product to 'set' on your hair, reducing the amount the curls break up while drying, so may also help.

I plop then diffuse on the warm and/or cool settings. I do it mainly on the low speed, but I will use the high setting sometimes, too.

I also plop (about 10-15 min) then diffuse. Plopping cuts diffusing time for me.

I always plop for between 30-40 minutes. I do diffuse using the pixie curl method if I am not totally lazy ;)

I always plop using a Curlease towel. I leave the towel on whole I put my makeup on. After plopping I use either CIAB or Curls Gel-les'c as a serum. I scrunch in a small amount and then diffuse.

I only diffuse until my curls are stiff and formed. I go by feel. The time diffusing can change depending on what products I use. Some products make my hair dry really quickly, while other products hold onto the moisture. As long as I don't over-dry my hair, I don't get any frizz.

The other thing that is very important in preventing frizz is using the right products and enough of them. If I don't apply enough product or I miss portions of my head, I will get frizz.
Type: 3a fine & dense, with normal porosity, terrible product junkie
ROUTINE: LI, enhancer, gel, plop with Curlease towel, serum product (either CIAB or Gel-les'c), clip & diffuse.
Too many favourite products to list ... I finally have my routine that works and alot of products to choose from. My product stash is huge, but well loved !!!
