This Is The Big Weekend....

Jim and I are moving in together this weekend. We are packing his stuff tomorrow and hauling it to my place. He rented a storage unit and will take his furniture there next week. He will be staying at my place until my lease is up the middle of July then we will move to another apartment which will be in both of our names. The new apartment is so nice. Everything is upgraded and the patio overlooks the tennis court. It's the same floor plan and is just around the corner of my old apartment. This should make a pretty easy move for us.

I'm so excited and a little nervous. We are so much in love and this should tell us if we can live together 24/7. I had my rules for our relationship or any relationship and they were that no sex until we were in a monogamous relationship and not live together until there was a ring on my finger. If things go well we are looking at April to get married. We met on April 21st last year, so that date is important to us.

Look how cute he is in my avatar.

Congrats!! I remember moving in with my boyfriend. We had only been dating for around six months, but my lease was ending and so was his, and I spent most of time sleeping at his place, so we went for it.

Three years later, we're still going strong, despite some troubles along the way. The hardest thing for me is living with someone with a different level of comfort with dirt and clutter, but we have made compromises to make it work.

Jim and I are so much alike. Our birthdays are only 2 days apart. When we are together on the weekends we work so well together. We like doing the same things, we like the same food, we are very health conscious and enjoy cooking together, we like the same level of cleanliness, we both love to laugh. I feel we really compliment each other.

We've had our snags. Mainly because I've been divorced 22 years and he only 3 years. I'm very independent and he likes being the man and helping. I swear he won't even let me take a lid off of a jar. We've also had problems with his children accepting our relationship. They still hope mom and dad will get back together. They were married for 33 years. I know it's hard for them. It was hard for my children. I just need to be patient with them. They do like me.

I hope it works out well for you!

They are all in their 30's and married. They all have children except for one and she's trying. This has been my issue. I've told Jim that they are grown ass people and need to want him to be happy. He feels a lot of guilt ending the marriage and his ex made a big scene with the kids. Crying, saying he was abandoning her, etc. They are very protective of her, except for one. The oldest daughter let her mom stay with her for a while and realized what a drama queen she is. This woman works and makes more than me and she is having Jim pay her $950 a month for spousal maintenance. It goes up if/when he makes more money. The only way it stops is if she remarries or dies. I told Jim that we need to either get her on Match.com or kill her. :glasses7: She is in a serious relationship, so we are crossing our fingers. Jim agreed to this arrangement 1) guilt 2) just wanted to get the hell out of a bad marriage. He talked about going back to court, but his kids had a fit. SO, anyway the kids have been a problem for me, but I'm letting it go. We love each other and are moving on with our relationship. If they don't like it, then "oh, well".

Good luck! I was listening to this song I really like that reminds me a bit of my (rocky) relationship and thought of you - how wonderful young love is...makes it all worth it no matter the outcome(well my possible outcomes I mean lol) -

Thanks, Josephine. Nice song. This is our song. He downloaded it and learned the lyrics. He sang it to me one Sunday when we were driving home from Mass.

Exhausting weekend, but we got Jim moved in. We're still trying to organize everything, especially the kitchen. We both have so many kitchen gadgets, since we both enjoy cooking. We had a cookout on Sunday with my daughter and her family and relaxed with a movie last night. I'm limping from jamming 2 of my toes several times the past week and Friday I chipped a crown and my tongue is rubbed raw. I was a little grouchy by Sunday and this morning.

Lotsa, I'm very happy for you. Sounds exciting! And as a fellow kitchen gadget lover, I understand your predicament. Counterspace: the bane of home cooks everywhere.

Anyway, a toast to you and Jim. And let's hope your weird boss stops lurking in your parking lot now that Jim's around (but sorry that that's what it may have taken).

    I don't think he's lurking anymore. I hope not.

I have a black bib apron hanging on one side of the entrance into my kitchen. The entry way is an arch. When I was helping Jim pack up the kitchen I found a black bib apron of his. I hung it on the other side of the entry way. It represents that it's "our" kitchen. LOL!

He has this great cookbook that is autographed by the chef who wrote it. He's decided each month we should randomly open it up and cook whatever is on the page. How fun! Right now we are being very careful what we eat. Vegas on the 23rd. Need to look good at the pool. I've bought 3 bikinis so far.
