Updo's for work that won't flatten my curls?

I work in a chocolate shop where I have to have my hair up and covered so no strays get in the chocolate while I make it. I usually wear it in a pony-tail with a handkerchief rolled up like a headband (Rosie the Riveter style) or under a winter hat. As the weather gets warmer, I'm wearing the hat less (which is probably better for my hair). This works well for me at work, but when I take my hair down before I leave, my hair is flat and nothing I do will revive the curls. My hair looks better after wearing the hat because I don't have to put it in a ponytail, but I think the rough fabric makes it more frizzy. Any styling suggestions that will prevent this from happening? I'm REALLY not a morning person so quick styles are preferable :)

I'm also worried that years of ponytails have made my hairline recede slightly, so I'm really trying to keep updo's loose. Any suggestions on ways to wear head coverings loosely to prevent more receeding are welcome!

Hahah, I have the same as you...work in a chocolate shop as well and have to put it up. What really helps with me and doesn't make it flat is a hair clip. I just take my hair, twist it and pull it up, then I put the hair clip in it. That is the fastest way I do it, but there are also different other ways to do it. Sometimes I also just do the front in the back and leave the rest hanging.

I like the snood idea, but I don't know how to knit! Do you know of any stores where I could buy a relatively cheap one?

The twist idea is also a good one, but does it stretch out your curls? I keep seeing people writing about avoiding shrink, but honestly, I like my curls boingy!

A snood would work but there are still holes for the hair to escape. I found a small one at my local Sally's if you want to try one out. Your best bet though is probably a women's scrub cap, nurses/docs use them during surgery, they're generally cotton and come in a ton of cute designs. Found this one on Amazon (see more options toward mid-page) but I'm sure you could find them at a local uniform shop or on eBay or etsy.

You might try a search for 'food service cap' too.

So, I'm now seriously contemplating getting this just to make my grandparent's dog look extra ridiculous. :P Thanks for making me waste my money on a bit of laughter... Hahaha.
