Medium-coarse texture: Safe to try PT?

whirlyhairwhirlyhair Posts: 194Registered Users
I have medium-coarse textured hair. All my other hair info is in my sig. That said, is it safe for me to try a PT? If so, how often? I doubt I need to use it every week or even biweekly, but can I safely use it once a month?

Thanks!

You really won't know until you try. How does your hair react to protein in products? I know that some of the coarse haired curlies say that their hair tolerates (even needs) protein in the summer. They just have to find specific ones.

I never do PTs, but just use higher protein conditioners in high dew point weather. I'm never low enough where I need a lengthy treatment.

Like kathymack said, you don't know until you try.

I have med-coarse hair that is extremely protein sensitive, but still use a protein RO (with keratin or silk protein) in the summer months, maybe once every two weeks.

I started CG in the summer, so I thought I could handle more protein than I usually need. It's definitely seasonal.

In the winter & spring/fall I never use protein, except on the odd occasion in a styler or a gel. Even protein analogues (jojoba oil, avocado oil, coconut) are too much for me on a regular basis.

I never need an actual PT. I tried once (last summer) & it was not good.

If you do use any protein treatment, be sure to follow up with lots of moisture.
