Anyone do CG without going curly?

That title may be a bit confusing  I basically mean does anyone do the CG method of cleansing with conditioner, no sulfates, silicones, etc. but then not bother with the actual curls?

I am doing this now as I haven't quite got the confidence to wear my hair down ALL the time. So I co-wash, condition, then let it mostly dry in a microfibre towel, and then let it down to do what it wants. I don't bother trying to make the curls nice and defined with gel anymore, as I tie it up most days anyway.

I am hoping that the fact I am not using sulfates and silicones will help the overall feel of my hair and therefore when I DO want to wear it down, it will look nicer! In theory  What does everyone think?
2c/3a thick hair, attempting CG again!

I'm also a member of the Long Hair Community and they had a thread dedicated to the "CG method" but didn't call it that. It was just referred to as conditioner-only washing or shampoo-free, or something like that. Anyway, many of the women who posted there had straight hair. CG is a method of caring for hair and can theoretically be done on any type of hair- curly, straight , etc.

Oh ok, so you are really focusing on the health of the hair and not much on defining the curl? I think, at the end of the day, it is the health of the hair that is most impt. I don't think theres anything wrong with what you are doing. :toothy7:

I put my daughter on a modified cg. She has no curl at all but bought her a sulphate free poo and silicone free condish. Been a couple weeks and her hair looks great! Soft!! She only uses the poo every other wash. I think the method is great for everyone not just curlies ! It's about hair health just a bonus that it helps us curlies so much! ;)

Yup, I'm the same way. If I don't do anything to enhance my curls I get beach waves, which I love! I also love the curlier look I can get from styling but I don't do it right now because the last 2 inches of my hair are really damaged and won't really curl, and it's really time consuming trying to get all of my hair to look nice at this point. The rest of my hair curls really nicely but those ends.. :(

But I won't cut them off because if there's anything I really don't look good in is shorter hair, and besides, I do enjoy the beach wave look. What most important is that my hair look and feels much healthier, softer, shinier, and more resilient.
