help me!

I have a bi-racial two year old, I need tips for helping tame her wild locks. I think she falls in the 3c category but it may be 4a. The biggest problem i have is that nothing seems to give her the moisture she needs for more than a few hours. After initially doing her hair her hair looks great but after a nap or hard play it is frizzy and dry again. I hate using gel to define her curl because it is hard and crunchy.

Here is a picture of her hair with no product. Also keep in mind her hair line is still coming in, the back of her hair is thick with a tighter more defined curl. When her hair is wet the back pulls down to her shoulders.

Omg, she is sooo cute!!! I just had to say that! :) I don't have many recommendations, but I'm bumping this thread for you. When you mentioned that the gel made her hair hard and crunchy, that could be because her hair was still set in the gel cast. Have you tried scrunching out the crunchiness?

Have you tried just using a leave-in conditioner versus the gel?

Elizabeth, tyvm! I haven't tried working out the cruchiness and the next time I attempt a gel I will try that :)

Curlytresses, I always use some sort of leave in. I usually layer things. I use a leave in or moisturizer and then something for her curl and frizz. It just seems like nothing last for more than a few hours.

Do you seal the leave-in with oil? I have to seal with olive oil or my hair becomes a frizzy mess.

I guess I assumed that if I used oil as a leave in that curl creme would seal it. So I need a good leave in, oil, and then curl creme? Or will enough leave in and oil cut her frizz? She has such beautiful hair I just want to take care of it. Do you have products that you love or make a big difference?

I love Tresemme Naturals and also Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curling Milk. I alternate them as leave-ins. I cowash with V05 Moisture Milks. I then apply either the Tresemme or the Shea Moisture. I seal that with olive oil and then use Eco Styler with Argan Oil (my favorite....love that stuff).

I am also doing the Curly Girl Method. Here's a picture of my hair before the CG Method and about seven months after doing the CG Method. It took about two months to see the major difference in my hair. My hair was extremely dry and wouldn't hold moisture before CG.

Oh and you can try the leave in and oil first. I have done that and had good results. You don't need much of the oil. I have a small squirt bottle and use two small pumps for my whole head.
