Looking for a new low poo w/coco-bet

Jas76Jas76 Posts: 2,283Registered Users
Ok. So I'm on the hunt. Mine has been discontinued! (Or so it seems.)

It must be cone and sulfate free (tho a water soluble cone is ok), have cocobetaine, be a drugstore product, and protein is a bonus!

I was looking at Yes To Cukes, Renpure Brazilian Keratin (which I've used before and found to be OK), Organix coconut milk (not sure if it's CG, tho?), and Burt's Bees Baby Bee.

Opinions on those or other suggestions are very much welcomed!

TIA!!

Lo-poo - Renpure Keratin, SMR, Giovanni SaS
clarifying - mix Johnson's H2T with low poo
Co-wash - Suave Nats. clar. or coco.
RO - GVPCB, Ion Eff. Care, TN.
LI - SMR, Cure Care, or RO
Seal - MO or Jojoba
DT - + honey, ACV, & EVOO to SM masque & GVPCB
PT - Gelatin!, CNPF
Styling - FSG, AIF, BRHG, LALS/PS, GF curl spray gel, SM Souffle/Smoothie, LOOB

    Hi Jas!

I was looking at the Yes to Cucumbers shampoo too :D My Marshall's has the large bottles for only $4.00 but somehow I resisted the purchase until I read more about it. What's happening to me???

I was kind of excited to recommend you a product until I read that it had to be from a drugstore. It was this one: Elucence Moisture Benefits Shampoo - CurlMart. It has protein in it and it's $12 for a liter.

I love to low poo and this one in my rotation along with Renpure (red bottle) My Hair is Pretty Parched which is pretty good too. I've recently learned how important a pre poo is so that has helped in the dryness factor when using these types of low poos.

I have noticed that my scalp feels cleaner day 1 but is definitely oilier on day 2. Is that from the stripping effect? I don't know, I'm just oily in general. Right now I counted 5 pimples on my face and I'm 34! What am I doing wrong???

Update: I had also been interested in Giovanni SaS, but thought it had a-cone. I've been told now that it no longer does, so that may be the first one I try!

    Hi, Sheila!

Well, it has to be drugstore PRICING, more than anything. ;) And available online easily or locally. I use things from Sally's a lot, and that's not a drugstore! ;)

I had heard good things about the red Renpure, but it has amodimethicone in it. :/ My hair did not play nice with that when I experimented with it a couple months ago.

If you do try the Cukes, let me know what you think!! I may hit that Giovanni first...

    Ok. Update to my update.

I'm confused. 3 online sites list Giovanni SaS poo as having a-cone AND olefin sulfonate. :/

Lizzle said she looked at her bottle and it didn't have any comes listed.

    So... ???

Was it reformulated? And if so, was it to add a cone and sulfate? Or to remove them??

    Ugh.

I don't know about the cone, but my general complaint about Giovanni stuff is the packaging-weird shaped bottles that are hard to use with one hand, and not enough product!

A couple I've been eyeing is the kiss my face everyday or volumizing poo, they are natural, also have protein. Available on drugstore.com and there's a sale now.

old or new yes to Cukes formulas....Drugstore.com has both. Old formula is 16 oz, new is 11 oz for the same price.

Kiss my face is on amazon for $18 for 32 oz with a pump. Whenever shampoo.

EEK, thank you for that tidbit, I missed the a-cone on that one, I didn't even bother to look as it came highly recommended. Never assume anything, eh?

I will definitely let you know how the Y2C goes. Is the SM Moisture Retention still treating you well? Does it weigh you down at all?

Weird! My bottle says "New and improved formula for even silkier hair" on the front so maybe it's a recent change? Maybe just check out the bottle next time you see it in the store. Giovanni is pretty easy to find on the ground, in natural foods stores or sometimes at Target.

I am still in LOVE with the SM MR! I just use a stronger poo (meaning with cocobetaine) once a week or two. I find it helps with build up I get from products. (My hair is very build-up prone. I'be been told that porous hair generally is.)

That's my plan - to look at the Giovanni bottle next time I see one and check for the cone and the sulfate. We'll see! I'm hoping they are both gone in the bottles carried around here!

I may pick up some Y2Cukes soon! And i'll check out the Kiss My Face!

    Thanks guys!!

Yes. That's exactly what's on my bottle. I don't know what that SLS looking ingredient is, but this shampoo still feels super gentle and moisturizing on my hair, so I don't really care!

It is so weird how every time I need something for my hair or I'm trying out something different there is a thread on here!! Mind readers on here or something?! lol!!
I've been looking to replace my coco-b containing 'poo... I have something from Giovanni and it ran out so I just used some baby wash I had in the shower. It didn't strip but I'm sure I can't just use that all the time. Has anyone tried Johnson's baby wash in their hair???

Most of the Mill Creek Botanicals shampoos contain coco bet. they're available on iHerb.com but I've found some varieties on the ground at my local health food store. Also the new U R Curly shampoo has it, it also has something crazy that coats your hair in something silky smooth yet lightweight. It wasn't too heavy for my hair, I left it on at least the 2mins recommended. It's available at some walmarts, there's a list on their site.

Oooh Jas, that is too funny! I didn't realize there were sulfates, now I'm going to have to take my lazy behind upstairs and look at the bottle lol. It's actually great that it does, because I'm still using HEHH. Maybe I don't need a new product after all, which is good for the budget :D

I think the sulfates aren't the top ingredients, but they are definitely in there!

I love it bc there are just a few ingredients, so it's nice and simple. And it does the job as far as cleansing go without being hugely stripping.

Well, apparently Y2Cukes IS CG! ;)

I was using Organix Shea, but now I can't find it anywhere, not even online. I have used Renpure Organix Keratin, and it's OK. I'd buy it again. I just wanted to try something new to see if I could fall in love. ;)
