Bradley Cooper perm -- would you do it?

bobbybobby Posts: 669Registered Users
OK, fellow men, I know men getting perms is so 1984 but Bradley Cooper got one for a role he is playing. By no means am I suggesting I would voluntarily do it. BUT, here's a rhetorical question for the guys, how much money would someone have to pay you to do it? For me, I'd start at $1,000 MINIMUM. Key word "minimum":

The original question was for guys, "How much would someone have to pay you to get a perm?"

However, I can make a lady angle. To that end, I ask: "Ladies, how much would you give your man if you dared him to get a perm?" LOL

Oh well. More for me! :icescream:

Bobby, it would depend on the man and how unfortunate-fortunate he'd look. Not everybody looks good with hair outside their natural texture so it's a tossup. One man could get a perm and look ridiculous in which case I'd pay him more for compensation. One man could rock those curls. Bradley doesn't look bad with curls from the side there. . . If I were a male actor though who wears his hair shortly cropped, I'd perm my hair for the role. They wouldn't have to pay me that much extra. There's not much risk there outside the chemicals but seeing as how it's not as if I (said hypothetical actor) permed my hair regularly, the one time shouldn't kill me. :angel7:

EDIT--Thought I should add men with natural curls are the sexiest things ever as they were designed to rock them.

You are right about that, men with "natural" curls were designed to rock them! That said, as a guy that has them, I say no way. Though since I didn't do it back in the day, I might be intrigued enough to try it. Then better judgement kicks in.

Sorry to have derailed your thread, Bobby. Since my hubby is approaching 50 and has lost almost all of the hair on top of his head, it would take a TON of money to ask him to perm what he has left, since he would look completely ridiculous. :-) He would look like a curly monk when it was all done, lol!

I dint even know a curly perm existed. I always thought that perm is something that would straighten ur hair. Silly me

Oh CIG, did you block out the 80's? It's okay. I was born in the 80's and I blocked out the bad perms too. Unfortunately I can't quite forget all those people reeking of hairspray.

Dusalocks, yes I was born in the mid 80's so no Idea, Besides, all I knew came from 80's back in India was to oil and braid your hair, well pretty much thats all I knew back then from any era!

It's nice to learn the 80's was a good hair decade in India. (But really what decade isn't a good hair decade for India?) Anyways, other things that probably weren't scarring India's cultural identity way back when: hooker blue eyeshadow, shoulder pads, fanny packs, synth rock and cheesy ballads featuring way too many saxophone solos. . . blech! (Shivers.)

Dusalocks: I learnt about "hooker blue eyeshadow, shoulder pads, fanny packs, synth rock" that when they did a 80's themed party at my work:)

I was born early 70s but am definitly an 80s kid all the way. I had the "hair thing" going on but never did the perm. That was more popular for the adult guys at the time. My brother and brother-in-law (both early to mid 50s) each did the perm. The solution they put in your hair would make me leery but I could get talked into a shampoo and roller set. Uh, maybe.

You're so smart to have avoided that Bobby. Hypothetical actors and setting aside the fact that Bradley Cooper looks yummy with both straight and curly hair--you couldn't pay me personally to get a perm now, even for a stronger curl pattern like 3B-3C, because I think it would damage my hair too much. Well, I guess you could pay me enough but it'd have to be sizable. Maybe 5K. So glad I wasn't born in the 70's and sidestepped a lot of embarrassing pictures of bad fashion and an ugly perm. Actually my mother recently showed me a picture of my teenage aunt with her bad perm circa 1982. It was pretty cringeworthy. :toothy3:
