Help! My lotion keeps separating!
Hi Ladies,
I'm hoping to get some help here. Whenever I make my olive oil lotion it separates. Here's my recipe....
Lotion recipe
1/2 cup olive oil
1/4 cup water
4 tsp emulsifying wax
I melt the oil and wax together then heat the water and pour in the melted oil as I stir.
Let it cool slightly then mix with my hand mixer. It comes out really creamy and smooth. But doesn't stay that way
.
A few days later oil and water has separated and I have to shake the container before each use.
What am I doing wrong? Do I need more emulsifying wax? Help! Thanks :-)

Instead of explaining it all here, you'd be better off going and reading up on proper lotion making at this wonderful blog...Point of Interest!: If you're new to lotion making...
She has step by step instructions and recipes that will work, even for beginners.
You didn't mention using a preservative in your post, please, please read up on why you need to use preservatives while you're researching on that blog too.
