Is it possible that armpit length is my terminal length?

in Hair Type 4
So my hair has literally been at the same length (armpit length) for a year +. and im really confused because i dyed it last summer and it was at my armpit, now i measured it and ts still at my armpit BUT i see my new growth (4in of black hair) and my colored hair which is significantly shorter than it was in the summer(about 5in).
BUT heres the thing, i looked at my old pics from about 2 years ago while i was natural (ive been natural for about 5-6 yrs) and my hair was STILL at armpit length and this is with my virgin natural hair, NO color or anything. when i look back at all my old pics and my pics from now, my hair is either 1in above armpit length or at armpit length and im not understanding why. i deep condition, after everywash and i put little to no tension on my hair and i often keep my hair in braids or twists when its not out.
though when i was relaxed my hair was never passed my shoulder so i do believe this is progress, but still. could armpit length be my terminal length???
help!

It's more useful to focus on healthy hair care practices -- gentle detangling, moisturizing and sealing, low manipulation styling, protective styles, etc.
P.S.Your dyed ends were probably breaking at the same rate as your hair was growing at the root.
nope! Lol j/p I will say that my experience wasnt the best BUT my hair wasnt fully healthy (still heat damaged), I did it myself (BYE), TWICE back to back (double bye).. It dried out terribly and broke some but I eventually got a grasp on how to keep it moisturized & stop breakage. But the color still loosened my curl pattern so I sort of had to transition all over again.
I am planning on getting highlights this summer though, because im better educated on how to take care of it and its not the same as dyeing a major portion of your hair. Also I have no damage.
Id just advise you get it professionally done, and only do it if your hair is healthy. Incorporate a good protein conditioner into your regimen and seal properly if you already dont (Im also already porous so had to switch from sealing with oils to butters). You should be okay!

Thanks for your reply! My hair is in pretty good condition, and I was planning to go to a professional to get it done. So I think I'll go ahead and do it!
some people just don't get the growth that others get despite the best hair care practices. i think heredity has a lot to do with it too. everyone doesn't get long hair.
