I have been using Deva curl products for years. I recently go back and forth using Deva curl and quidad products. my problem is frizz. no matter what I use or do I have lots of frizz. I was wondering could it be the water in my house. I live in the country now and I have well water but not the kind that smells like raw egg..lol. any advice ????

This may have something to do with the dew points where you live. Deva products have glycerine in them which causes frizz in high dew points. Search here on naturallycurly to learn more about it. I avoid glycerine laden products because I live in a place with high dew points.

Glycerin causes frizz in low dew points, not high.

Well according to livecurlylivefree it can cause frizz in low and high but I've heard people say they love glycerine for the high dews. Go figure. I'm not about to encountera high dew anytime soon so. . .

Frizz can be caused by all kinds of things. My hair loves glycerin in all dews - that may not be your issue. The water is pretty hard where I am and I need to clarify on occasion to remove build-up. Regular (weekly) rinses with ACV also helps. My hair is fine and can get build-up and over-conditioned easily.

I also need to be careful how I handle my hair. Techniques are as important as the right products. I blot my hair with a curls-like-us towel, gently diffuse if I don't have time to air dry and cannot touch my hair during the drying time. I pineapple at night and sleep with a satin pillowcase.

You may want to use the search engine above and look at what others here are doing to fight frizz. Read through the causes and try some of the solutions. It may take some patience but I'm confident that you'll find tips that are suited to your individual needs.

Mhen, do you always apply products with glycerine to wet hair because i heard that is important to keep it from drying out your hair? has that been true in ur experience?

I do apply products to wet hair. I've never had a problem with glycerin causing dryness and I use it year round. I started using KY jelly after reading about it on these boards and I was amazed at the frizz control it gave me. I graduated to LOOB and now I add glycerin to my FSG. My hair is fine and I can be prone to over-conditioning. Dryness is usually not an issue for me.

I'm certainly no expert and can't begin to explain why glycerin can be a problem for many curlies while it works wonders for me. Years of reading these boards has taught me that regardless of our hair properties, curl patterns, climates, etc. we all respond differently to ingredients and techniques - even hair twins. If there was a formula that worked for everyone, we'd all be using it! The beauty of these boards is the diversity and sharing of successes and failures.
