I've come to the oil slick in the road. How do I get through it?

Hi all,
I've been doing CG for about a week now and I've come to the point where my hair and roots (especially roots) feel somewhat greasy and I feel like my hair looks dirty :confused3: It is not the same kind of greasy look I would get back when I used sulfates and cones. I don't think it's product residue as I clarified first day and since then have cowashed twice and lowpooed once. I use silicone free or water soluble silicone products. Perhaps I'm using too much conditioner or need to rinse better? I'm trying to avoid using low poo or cowashing every day and let things with my scalp work themselves out, but I don't want to look like I do not have a proper hygiene routine lol. I knew this period of grossness would come, but until it passes, how do I disguise it? Should I low poo more often? Should I concoct a refreshing spray to use? What did you do to get through this period when your hair looked WORSE before it looked better?
Thanks in advance,

I'm right there with you! Going to do a baking soda wash and a acv (apple cider rinse) very soon. Had to wear a bun today cos It was my only option. I've been trying to scrub my roots when I co wash and then Just do a rinse out conditioner but avoiding my roots.

I have fine, low-porosity hair, and I'm a greasy gal by nature. It's just my body chemistry. I have to low-poo or co-wash every day... on or off CG, it's a daily thing.

I have found that with co-washing, if I'm lazy about my scalp and just kind of goop conditioner on, I still look greasy at the roots. I have to flip upside-down and use my finger pads to really, really massage my scalp; I have dense hair, so working it all down to the roots is key. It feels great, honestly, and I know good scalp circulation makes for healthy, happy hair. But some mornings I'm so sleepy...

So maybe try a co-wash with a light conditioner and really, really get in there. As many other posters have said "massage 'til your arms are sore!" See in my signature below, too, that I co-wash with a different conditioner. This one isn't rich enough to be my only conditioner, but it is hands-down the best at cleaning my hair gently.
