Any sports fans here?

As I see from the other thread and at work, most women don't like sports. It's so frustrating because I LOVE them. I've always like the Braves, and just my team, not even baseball but now I like baseball. I got into basketball and football because of my ex. Basketball is fun to watch live but football is the most interesting to me. I hate that my current bf is only into basketball(and really just the Heat) but at least he'll watch football and likes going to the braves games with me.

I find the big games so entertaining and exciting. And when it's your team, that rush you get in the playoffs and the do or die games, the excitement, fear, joy..that feeling, it's almost irreplaceable.

I find myself getting interested in other sports as well. I've never been into college basketball but I'm the pool at work and I won last year(by researching and copying a bracket from a good source - i know nothing about college ball). I'm really excited about the final games which are apparently going to take place in my city.

I also enjoy the social aspects around sports since I like drinking, eating, and partying.

I'm excited to go the home opener next week (Braves vs Phillies) and it's going to be 70, yay! But what sucks is that most of my female friends are not into sports and it's just funner to go in a group. So next Monday it's going to be me and 7 other dudes. Urgh. I'm trying to get my coworker to find a girl to come. It's just nice not to be at a sausagefest all the time.

I like sports. I enjoy them live more than on TV. Football I like to watch either way. I haven't kept up with college basketball since I graduated college. Baseball and hockey, I have to watch in person, otherwise it is boring to me.

I love all sports except tennis, golf, and soccer. ESPN is my background noise of choice.

I am especially fantastic about college football.

I can't say I am a huge sports fan, but I can say that I enjoy going to games. In elementary school I was a cheerleader for basketball and football, and loved it. (I am more of a b-ball fan than football.) The social aspect of being at a game is very fun, and enjoyable. You can't help getting sucked in. When it comes to sitting down and watching tv, I have other things on my mind, aside from a few specific sports or events.

I will watch the Olympics, and I LOVE watching boxing. Especially at a bar or pub. Very fun.

Some of them. I pretty much only watch my home teams.

I love football and football season - Go Pats! I will try to watch every game.

I love the Celtics and will watch basketball, but I usually don't turn it on myself.

I enjoy watching hockey bc its so full contact.

Baseball is SO boring to me. I just don't get it. I want to hang myself by the end of baseball season. Its difficult bc boyfriend is baseball obsessed. He pretty much wanted to play for the Red Sox. I'm like baseball = lame.

Any other sports like Olympic sports, boxing, UFC fighting (stupid), I am not interested in.

Boyfriend is such a sport fanatic. Thats all that is on. ESPN or Extreme 4.

That's alright, my ex never ever watched sports. I actually prefer it this way.

I use to didn't care at.all. for any sports, but I've gotten into football & basketball because of my ex. I prefer watching them at a sports bar, so I can eat and drink and I like the energy of the crowd. I'm beginning to get into golf a little. Jim is actually taking me out tomorrow to the driving range to practice tomorrow. Not sure if I can do it with my bad back.

It's crazy here because of the U of A basketball game tonight - Sweet 16 in LA.

We used to have season tickets near the floor, and I LOVE college basketball! I dislike pro basketball, but would love to go to games live. I'm not a huge football fan in large part because I don't know much about it and just the simple downs/trying to score isn't enough to make it interesting to me. Again, I like it live though! Most sports are fun live - though the funny thing is the one sport I MUCH prefer on tv is horseracing. Of all sports that's the one you'd think I would prefer live when I can see the horses - but you actually see more of them on tv.

Baseball is my sport of choice to watch, with many memories. My dad has coached an American Legion (high school aged kids' league) team since my brother was in high school. He was saying the other day he's had over 100 kids drafted and over either 300 or 400 go on to play college baseball. VERY cool. I love going to games with him and we look at things like pitch selection, location, problems with pitchers' mechanics, holes in the batters' swings, field position of the infielders, etc. We also keep score. I just really enjoy it, though I might not without all the knowledge I've gotten from him. I miss having a Major League team to cheer for, but after the Diamondbacks basically gave the middle finger to Tucson, causing us to lose spring training and taking away our minor league team, I figured I had no reason to be loyal to them. I had a partial season ticket package through their horrible years and their World Series season, but haven't gone to see them since they left town. I still would out of loving baseball in general, but it's not worth driving 100 miles each way regularly for a team who screwed our city over like that.
My first ever hockey game was a playoff game in Montreal. We were up there to watch the Diamondbacks play the Expos on their first road trip to Canada (I was in NH at the time), and my friend who drove asked if we were willing to stick around for a hockey game if he paid. We were in the top row but a good location on the ice, and he sat between us and explained rules and strategy to us. It was the most electric environment I have been in, and Montreal won to go to the next round (whatever it's called in hockey) of the playoffs. VERY cool.

    I like sports!

I was raised sitting in season tickets seats in the University of Miami Hurricanes Orange Bowl :)

I'm getting more into basketball & find The Heat games & the NCAA march madness fun. I'm a Miami Hurricane and we're really playing well. I'm also a Heat fan & no one can deny they play well ;)

I'm forever a NCAA football fan though. I love watching college football & rooting for my hurricanes :)

I'm a huge hockey fan! HUGE! And I also love soccer because I was raised watching it, and football is okay. I'll go to some home team games and watch the big events on TV.

I went to UVA, but I was at every single home game! I actually really enjoy ACC football. One of my fondest memories is from a GT at UVA game where it just POURED rain the whole time. Probably the most fun I've ever had!

I love sports. My housemate and I have season tickets to the local ECHL teams, the SF Bulls. On Sundays, my tv is trained on football. I love baseball live, when I lived in FL we used to go to spring training, then in Memphis, I used to go see the Memphis Redbirds play, and now I cheer for the Giants.

I don't watch golf, but I play. I rarely watch soccer. I don't watch basketball on tv, but I always do a March Madness bracket. Said bracket is beyond busted.

I've been an NBA fan for over 30 years. Current team loves are Spurs and Heat. I'm in CA. I go by players I love moreso than stats. Duane Wade and Tim Duncan are my big loves. Beginning of the season I tune in but not glued cuz there's a long way to go. Jan I really tune in and playoffs I'm glued!

We've had Seahawks season tickets for 10 years so I do love football. I also love to go to Mariners games and watch the occasional game on tv. I haven't watched basketball since the Sonics left but I plan to watch again when we get a new team.

So yeah, I like sports. :)

Love. love, love tennis but that's about it really. Have the Miami Open on now on ESPN (repeat). Can and do watch it for hours, live or on tv.
I used to like athletics and would watch regularly when I lived in the UK but it's really not a big thing here and you just get out of the habit.

I love college basketball. NFL football I can take or leave but I like college football as well. Baseball is a fun sport if you play or attend the games. It's more of a social sport where you can go with a group of people, spend the afternoon eating and drinking then occasionally watching the game where sports like basketball or football are more high energy so you're more inclined to watch the whole game and pay less attention to the socializing aspect of it.

That's nice(about baseball and your dad). My dad didn't know too much about baseball so I don't know as much as I probably should. We used to watch all the games together at home from about 94-97 when the Braves were really hot. I remember for whatever reason, we were in the west division in the NL so most of our games were in PST and we'd be watching until 1-2am sometimes on weeknights(usually extra innings). My mom would come in yell at us telling my dad I need to go to bed for school and he would tell her one more inning(even if there were 2 lol).

That sucks about the Diamondbacks, I had no idea. I just loved it when they beat the Yankees on the last game, out and strike agains Riveria. I was in my dorm room watching it by myself jumping up and down on my bed. I absolutely hate the Yankees as they beat us twice in a row in the World Series(once when they were down 0-3).

My good friend went to U of M as well. And she was there when the fb program was at it's height so she's a hardcore college fb fan as well and Heat. My bf is a die hard Heat and Wade fan(born and raised in Miami) so I watch most of the games now. We actually started dating because I need someone to watch last years final game with.

Did you watch last nights game? I didn't know about that drama..

I like baseball and I get into tennis when the big matches go on. I've stayed away from baseball though because my team will never do anything unless sold to different non-moron owners.

The thing about sports is that I don't really like a lot of the cultural/societal issues that it creates and encourages. There is a lot that is distasteful and leaves me feeling rather uncomfortable having any part in it.

I kind of know what you are talking about, but not really. Even with my favorite team, there were a lot of things I didn't like that was happening but I still enjoy the game.

There are also so many things I wouldn't support if I knew what was going on behind closed doors..it's just too much.

Did anyone watch the Duke/Louisville game ouch :(. Well my bracket is pretty shot. I had Gators (dont ask) to go all the way ..the only team in the final four that i picked is louisville, so I hope they win. I'm still 12th in my rankings out of 50 somehow. I'm excited that the final four games are in Atlanta next weekend, party time!!

I did see the Duke/Louisville game....ouch is right.

I agree with you Saria on the societial/cultural influences issues. The $ issue is a huge issue for me. I realize their careers can be shortlived but really? But then again there are a lot of careers where I think people are getting outrageous sums of $ and I truly do not think anyone is worth some of salaries/bonus etc they are receiving.
