Hello all! Just joined naturallycurly.com and started the CG method about 3 days ago. So far it's going well aside from the lack of volume at my roots:cwm21:, but I know many people say my hair will look worse before it looks better. I'm not sure if I'm 2b or 2c. I'm going to try to post some pics of my hair, so please feel free to post your opinion. Also, does anyone know where to get a good curly girl cut in the Pittsburgh area?
2b/2c, Med density, Med Porosity, Fine/Med width, Med length, layers start below ears. Just my shot in the dark for my hair properties. Growing out bleached highlights Fall 2012, growing out dyed hair March 2013. Makes for a confusing mix of properties. Learning how different processes affect hair properties. Using lot of drugstore products right now. Determining what's right for my hair in my climate. Pittsburgh has a little bit of everything weather wise. Modified CGM since March 2013.

It looks like a 2b to me, though I consider mine as a 2b and your curls look tighter, so I would class it as a 2c.
By the way, you could try root grips. They bring volume to the roots of your hair. :)

Can you share your hair thickness (of an individual strand - thin, normal, or thick/coarse) and the porosity (low to high)? That will help a lot in figuring out what might help. The "hair types" link at the top helped me do that.

I have fine (baby fine!) low porosity hair that is very dense, and I had a problem getting root curl. A better curl helped me, along with learning to use protein on my hair (a PT), the technique of applying products while hair is soaking wet, doing EVERYTHING upside-down (my man thinks it's hilarious), and a gentle version of Pixiecurl's diffusing method. But almost all of that was based on knowing that I had fine, low porosity hair, not the look of it. I went from 2B to 3A in about a week using the stuff I learned on this forum!
    I sort of blog
I'm mostly away doing field work through mid-May.

Wow that is encouraging. I added all my hair properties in my signature. I'm just now learning how important putting all the qualities of your hair together is when determining the best routine for you.
