Curl enhancing lotion for waves?

brittany0859brittany0859 Posts: 3Registered Users
I am a 2b and I'm looking for a good curl enhancing lotion. I'd rather it be something a can pick up at Walgreens or somewhere, so nothing that I have to order. Price doesn't matter as long as its not $30 or something. I want something light that won't weigh my hair down. I have average/normal hair thickness and I have no idea about porosity (I'm new). Also I'm looking at mousse because I think gel weighs my hair down. Is herbal essences totally twisted good? Is it CG friendly? If not what is one that is?

Also how do I find out my hair porosity? And how do I know if my hair needs more protein?

I use the HETT Mousse and it works well on my 2B waves. I use KCCC on soaking wet hair and use the mousse after plopping for a little while. I have used the Redken Curl Cream and it was good too, but I like the KCCC better. Hope that helps :)
    Fine texture
    Low/ Med porosity
    Med density

    Wash: SM MR, GTTT
LI: SM CSM or SM MR
Styling:AVG, KCCC, Volumax MEGA (HG), Joico Curl Definer

The HETT Mousse is CG. The HETT Creme is not CG (though I own it and use it occasionally...it's okay, nothing fantastic, but it smells amazing). I've never had much success with mousses or creams. I have used the Garnier Fructis Pure Clean cream, and I disliked it so much that I ended up throwing half the bottle away.

Porosity is...tricky. You can kind of figure it based on your naked hair's drying time, though that's all relative to your hair's length and density as well. You can also run your fingers up a strand of your hair. If it feels rough, it's high. If it's smooth, it's low. If you hear a squeak, it's probably low porosity. Lastly, how easily your hair gets wet. Wets easily is high porosity. The float test, if you've heard about it, is not terribly accurate.

High porosity, damaged hair, and fine (small in diameter) tend to like protein.
    Wave Pattern: 2A
Hair Properties: Normal/Low Porosity, Medium Density, Medium Texture w/Fine Straight Underlayer
    Co-wash: Suave Naturals, Cure Care
    Low-poo: Renpure Brazilian Keratin
Rinse Out & Leave In: Tresemme Naturals
Gel: LA Looks Mega Mega Hold Gel, Garnier Fructis Spray Gel

I like KCCC but I like jellies better than creams. Most of the curl enhancers I like have to be ordered online. Some people also like AG re:coil, may be found at Ulta.
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Beauticurls, CJ Smoothing

    jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC
gels: CJ CQ, CJ Pattern Pusha, BRHG
