Does anyone wet their hair daily?

in Hair Type 4
Hey ladies,
Just some random thoughts running through my head. I've had my hair cut by Deva-trained stylists a few times, and because they are generally used to styling hair in wash n go's, and not protective styles, they are always advising me to wet my chronically dry hair daily to increase my moisture levels. I normally just see it as them not having enough experience or knowledge about my texture, and shrug it aside. However today I watched a couple of videos from Anthony Dickey from Hair Rules, and he says the same thing (essentially don't go more than 2-3 days without wetting your hair, that using a spray bottle isn't sufficient, and that this is the best way to prevent heat damage in the event that you do decide to blowdry- not that I use heat), and I am wondering if there is any truth to this.
Do any of you tighter/kinkier haired ladies wet your hair several times a week? And how does this work? I DEFINITELY could not go through my post-wash regimen more than once a week: bear in mind I can't do constant wash n go's on my hair as it would be knot city. I rarely even wash my hair loose anymore. I'm wondering if twisting and then wetting/cowashing the twists often would be a feasible option (I often keep twists in for 2/3 weeks at a time, and cowash once or twice within that time without any real tangling issues). Also has there been any improvement in moisture level since starting to do this, compared to a time where you didn't wet your hair often?
I split my time between 2 completely different climates, and the last few weeks in the tail-end of UK winter has wreaked havoc on my hair, I can't help wondering if there is more I could be doing to increase my moisture levels apart from weekly DC's, and moisturising daily (avj/water spritz, followed by a cream moisturiser, followed by a sealant, no glycerin, protein introduced regularly but in a controlled manner, i.e. I am careful not to use it in too many products- and I've also tried the loc method without much improvement) which still leaves me with ridiculously brittle hair.
Any thoughts are most welcome.
TIA!

I am trying it in braids instead of twists because when I would rinse my hair in twists my hair would mesh together. That was not the case when I would rinse my hair in braids.
ETA: I am going to try ditching the hair cap today while I shower today. I will also be doing this three times a week at first and not every single day. I don't want to go overboard and cause hygral fatigue.

Wetting your hair often is only drying if you are using shampoo each time. Water rinsing and conditioner washing can actually be hydrating to the hair.

In terms of moisture levels between then and now, I haven't noticed much of a difference at all.

I forgot to mention my hair is relatively long. When it was shorter, I actually used to wet it several times a week, but these days even washing loose is not an option.
I've put my hair in loose twists now, and I think I'll probably stay in these for a couple of months (redoing them every 2 weeks I think). I've been wetting every other day, following up with conditioner and sealing.
Like you Ricotdorothy, I was a bit worried about the twists meshing (especially as they're quite loose), but so far so good. I've been taking some down randomly to see. I think the detangling properties of the conditioner stop them from locing. So I'll continue for a while and see how things go. Make sure to report back.

I have run into an issue. My hair is low porosity so rinsing it this often means my hair is wet a good bit of the time (it takes to 12 to 18 hrs to dry).
At three times a week it means that it is three times a week I will have to walk around with damp hair all day. I don't know if anyone may have any suggestions?
ETA: I think I will just take it down to twice a week (every 3-4 days) and report back.

Yeah, probably cut it down. Also I do it at night. No way I'm walking round London with wet hair in this weather!

Do you tend to wash n go mostly, or do you go through the whole stretching routine multiple times a week?

Stretch. It's not too bad though. I guess practice has made me a twisting machine.
It is good to hear that it gets easier over time. How long does it take you and how many twists do your normally do?
@NoodleNaps
After oil rinsing multiple times this week in braids I took the braids down and found tangles, lots of them. It took some time to work out all of the tangles. I then conditioner washed my hair and put it in chunky twists and set it the next day. The next day I also had a time consuming detangling session. I am going to try conditioner washing the hair while in twists in order to avoid matting and tangling this time. On another note my hair is really soft and sheeny. I love how it feels and I don't have to worry about reapplying product in between wetting sessions except to use coconut oil the night before. I will continue to use sulfate free shampoo once a week as my scalp needs that to feel clean. I may see about switching to a conditioning cleanser once a week so that I may move shampooing to once every two weeks. If I get the hang of this I may be able to kiss itchy scalp goodbye.:batman:

I've never really counted but it takes me aoubt 45 minutes to twist. then usually I go sit under the dryer awhile to speed up the drying process then go to bed but I think I'm going to start lightly blowing it out then twisting and see how that does. Also I'm not one of those people who can do a once a week detangling either because of the tangles I get from shed hair.
Wow it takes me hours to twist! But then that could be because I detangle once a week and therefore I have to detangle as I twist. Are you doing chunky or medium sized twists?

:occasion9: Oh I can stop? Lol. I can't be bothered with the constant wetting either. I have not mastered the art of the wash and go and stretched hair equals detangled hair on my head. That means the minute I go under water I have a detangling situation. What I have noted is how incredibly soft my hair feels with wetting my hair more. The results were similar if not the same with when I used to baggy twice a week. That being said I think I will turn to using my bathroom as a midweek steam room for my hair, either that or do a midweek baggy session. I think that should provide the same results without fighting with wet hair. As for my scalp I got a spray that takes out the itching, and I have realized finally that cowashing is not for me and trying it over and over is not going to change that.
