KCCC vs UFDCM

Hi everyone. I have a feeling that there probably is already a thread on this, but I haven't been able to find it (because I only have the app search function right now). Anyway, I'm looking for information about the difference between Kinky Curly Curling Custard and Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic. For those of you who have tried both, what would you say are the pluses and minuses of each? Do you have a strong preference of one, or would you say they are quite similar?

I use them interchangeably. Ufdcm may be slightly thinner, and I find my results to be a bit more reliable with Kccc. Other than that pretty equal.

I so want to try this stuff. Why must the shipping coupled with the tax make it soooo expensive? :banghead:

I can still remember my first time with KCCC when I started on nc.com. Best curls ever--up until that time. I went away from it for a long time and only started to use it again about 18 months ago with CK Curlycue ReNew. Great combination. UFD Curly Magic has been in the rotation consistently since I first bought it.

Not sure why you'd limit yourself to either/or. I wet, use a rinse out and style every day. Seldom let myself use any one product more the once every five days, if that. They are both good products to have in your arsenal.

Thanks very much for all the replies & thanks especially sheilacurl for finding those threads! I'm gonna purchase it, so now my question is: where do you buy it from? Can it be purchased on the ground anywhere, or do you have to order through their website?

From what I've researched, you have to buy it from the salon's site. With tax and S&H feels I think the total was nearing $40 so even though it's cheaper by the ounce than KCCC all by its lonesome, to order it online it gets quite expensive. You had better believe the next time I'm in Houston, TX I'm dropping by and getting some on the ground though. Maybe I could have my cousins send some to me. . . ? Might shave a dollar or two. Their hair, however, is relaxed so I suspect if they were to set foot in a salon that embraces natural hair texture it'd be rather intriguing.

Stop tickling my PJ, Kathymack! I read stuff like this and my hair starts saying, "Yeah! Why should you limit me to either or?" And then I have to pull the damned strands away from the face just so they won't keep distracting me with their wanton ways.

I suspect my hair is just getting greedy now. . . :sad10:

I've used both and I like UFD CM better than KCCC. KCCC was more finicky but seemed to work better in the summer time for some reason. The CM works well all year but maybe slightly better in the winter. My fav combo is UFD CM and CJ Curl Queen.

Do you always follow up a jelly with a gel, Asian Runner? I have yet to try that. :confused1:

Yes, but I need the hold from a firm hold gel since my waves are so weak!

    I'm bumping up this thread.

Does anyone have experience with UFD CM in high dews? I tried KCCC and while I overall liked the definition... it really gave me very little frizz control and so not worth repurchasing (or even finishing the jar actually). :/

I LOVE UFDCM CM in high dews- but I use it in a non traditional way. I rotate products every day, and sometimes after I SOTC, I can tell its not going to hold all day- like it's TOO soft. Or at the end of the day when I need to look god in the evening...or for second day hair...

Anyway, this magic potion gets smoothed on, and smoothed over any unruly clumps, and it adds that extra oomph for my curls. It never crunches, never flakes, and always looks fabulous when I use it on DRY hair.

I do also use it as my middle product, under a hard hold gel, but this product really shines for me on dry hair. I will never be without it.

I just bought a big bottle of it for the first time today! I love KCCC, but only in the winter - in medium to high dews, KCCC is a disaster for me. I've been wanting to find a similar replacement for summer, and many curlies rave about UFDCM, so I'm going to give it a try. When I got home from the store, I squirted a little in my hand to see the consistency, then smoothed a little on the unruly curls near my face. It did seem to smooth them out nicely, so I will be excited if this product works as a second day refresher. I'll also try it on wet hair the next couple of times I wash, with and without a hard hold gel on top, to see how it does. I'll be sure to report back!

Also, I really like the scent. :-)
